FAYETTEVILLE — Roy Harold (Sonny) Hildebrand Jr.,
age 72, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021. He was born Sept. 4, 1948, in Kennett, Mo., to Roy and Lola Wilburn Hildebrand.
He was a member of Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. He was a sales account executive for the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette until his retirement and had worked in media sales for the Northwest Arkansas area for over 30 years.
Sonny was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corps, having been stationed in Europe and multiple locations in the US. He was also a long time supporter of the band programs at Ramay Junior High School and Fayetteville High School announcing for their half-time and competition shows. Additionally, he was a long time supporter and announcer for the Northwest Arkansas Winds. An avid reader, Sonny was a fan of the works by John Grisham and John le Carré.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 50 years; one daughter, Stacey Chambers and her husband Dustin of Van Buren, Ark.; his son, Garrick Hildebrand of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Ariana Chambers and Davis Chambers of Van Buren; as well as countless friends and loved ones.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Due to covid regulations, the service will be for family only, but will be livestreamed.
