FAYETTEVILLE — Deborah Louise Schoolcraft,
69, of Fayetteville, Ark., was called to eternal life in Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 1, 1951 in Safe, Mo., to Merel Jackson Steen and Irma Hermine (Rieke) Steen.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale and was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League at both Salem Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church, where her husband served as pastor. She served in many facets in ministry including Sunday school teacher, superintendent, vacation Bible school, the choir, and used her sewing talent to craft banners for the various churches where she and her husband served. She loved giving of her time and talent for the Lord’s work and was a powerful prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her parents and youngest sister Beth Edgar.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rev. Roger Schoolcraft; daughter Andrea Schoolcraft of St. Louis, Mo.; son Aaron Schoolcraft and wife Megan of Chaptico, Md.; brothers Merel Steen of St. James, Mo., Duane Steen of Klamath River, Calif., Joel Steen of San Jose, Calif., and Terry Steen of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister Kathy Glenn of Florissant, Mo.; and granddaughter Maisie Schoolcraft of Chaptico, Md.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28, from 2-4 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at St. John Lutheran Church in St. James Mo. A visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
