PREP BASEBALL FS SOUTHSIDE 3, BENTONVILL­E 2 (8)

Luke Wyatt’s eighth-inning sacrifice fly drove in Kent Carlisle as Southside edged Bentonvill­e and forced a split in their 6A-West Conference series.

The Mavericks (6-5, 2-3) scored the winning run without a hit as Carlisle reached on an error, stole second and went to third when a third strike to David Sorg turned into a passed ball and allowed him to reach. Wyatt then lofted a fly ball to right and allowed Carlisle to score.

FAYETTEVIL­LE 1, ROGERS HIGH 0

Wyatt Core had Fayettevil­le’s only hit and scored the lone run as the Bulldogs edged Rogers at the Mounties’ new field.

Rogers’ loss means Springdale HarBer, a 4-0 winner Tuesday over Rogers Heritage, takes sole possession of first place in the league standings.

Core ruined Wells’ no-hitter when he belted a triple to left field to start the seventh inning, then he came home one out later on a passed ball.

Tanner Wade and two relievers combined to shut out Rogers on seven hits. Wade pitched six innings to pick up the victory, while Jake Pannel picked up the final out and recorded the save.

BENTONVILL­E WEST 17, SPRINGDALE 4

Aaron Arnold belted a three-run home run, and Landon Grigg had four hits and scored five times as West bested Springdale.

Arnold capped the Wolverines’ fourrun second with his blast and made it a 7-2 game. West (9-6, 2-3) then blew the game open in the final two innings with two runs in the sixth and six more in the seventh.

River Baker added three hits to the Wolverines’ 15-hit attack, while Cole Kitchens, Arnold and Luke Schonauer had three hits apiece. Arnold also pitched five innings and picked up the win, while Drew Carter pitched the final two innings.

FARMINGTON 6, GRAVETTE 2

Caden Elsik raced home on a passed ball and scored the go-ahead run as Farmington went on to defeat Gravette in 4A-1 Conference action at Farmington.

Elsik’s fourth-inning score broke a 2-2 tie, then Farmington cushioned its lead with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Myles Harvey did his part on the mound with a complete-game three-hitter and struck out 12 in a 93-pitch outing.

Chase Brown had three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Cardinals’ offense. Rhett Hilger took the loss as he pitched four innings for Gravette while three relievers finished the game.

SHILOH CHRISTIAN 8, PRAIRIE GROVE 3

Caleb Anderson had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs to pace Shiloh Christian past Prairie Grove in 4A-1 Conference action in Springdale.

Anderson had an RBI single for the Saints’ first run in the first inning, then his three-run home run spearheade­d a five-run fourth that gave Shiloh an 8-0 lead.

Sean Rhodes pitched six innings and allowed just one run on seven hits to pick up the win. He helped his cause when he drove in two runs, while four different Saints had two hits apiece in a 15-hit performanc­e.

Sloan Smith had three hits for Prairie Grove, while Conner Hubbs had two hits and drove in two runs.

SILOAM SPRINGS 13-13, ALMA 1-4

J.P. Wills belted a pair of three-run home runs and drove in seven runs to lead Siloam Springs past Alma in the first game of a 5A-West doublehead­er.

The Panthers (10-6, 5-1) did all their scoring in the first four innings, with Wills’ hitting his first home run as part of a four-run first. He added his second blast as part of a four-run third.

Gavin Henson picked up the win as he pitched all five innings and scattered five hits with 10 strikeouts.

Siloam Springs completed the doublehead­er sweep after it broke a 4-4 tie with four runs in the third, then blew the game open with a five-run fifth.

Andrew Pilcher led the Panthers’ 14-hit attack with three hits and three RBIs, while Brayden Fain and Elijah Coffey added three hits and two RBIs apiece.

Jacob Gilbert overcame a shaky first inning to record the win as he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits.

VAN BUREN 2-2, GREENWOOD 0-4

Landry Jurecka’s ninth-inning fly ball allowed Reed Carroll to score the goahead run as Greenwood slipped past Van Buren and salvaged a split in their 5A-West Conference doublehead­er.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with three straight hit batters, then Jurecka lofted his fly ball to right. It allowed Carroll to score while Van Buren got a force out at second, then Mathew Munday drove in an insurance run with an RBI single.

In the opener, Connor Johnson threw a one-hit shutout, while Haden Roark had three hits and scored Van Buren’s only two runs.

Johnson needed only 77 pitches as he struck out nine Bulldogs batters and didn’t issue a walk.

Roark had a leadoff single in the first and scored while Jaiden Henry was in a rundown between first and second. He scored again in the third when he singled and came home on Easton Reichard’s double.

PREP SOFTBALL

BENTONVILL­E 10, ROGERS HERITAGE 0

Mackenzie Vaughan shut out Heritage on three hits and belted a threerun home run to lead Bentonvill­e to a 6A-West Conference victory at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

The Lady Tigers (7-0, 3-0) had already taken a 3-0 lead in the first when Vaughan belted her shot and doubled the cushion. Bentonvill­e then added four more runs in the sixth and forced the 10-run rule.

Vaughan needed only 83 pitches and struck out 11 batters while issuing only one walk. Trista Peterson had two hits and drove in two runs, while Emily Perry had a two-run double in Bentonvill­e’s four-run sixth.

FARMINGTON 13, GRAVETTE 1

The Lady Cardinals belted 15 hits to back Carson Griggs in the circle in a 4A-1 Conference win Tuesday.

Griggs allowed just three hits and struck out five.

Remington Adams, Drew Clifford and Kamryn Uher had home runs for Farmington (12-2, 1-0). Clifford added a triple, and Adams, Grace Boatright and Justine Davidson added doubles. Adams was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Shayley Treat was 2-for-4 and also drove in a pair of runs.

FS SOUTHSIDE 2, FAYETTEVIL­LE 0

Maliah Hunter pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight in a complete-game shutout in 6A-West action.

The Lady Mavericks (7-6, 1-2) had five hits with Madi Conklin going 2-for4 with an RBI. Hunter also had an RBI single.

For Fayettevil­le (1-6, 0-3), Karlee Stonesifer was solid, allowing just five hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts.

Springdale Har-Ber 15, Springdale High 0

Jaxin Logue fired a one-hitter to lead the Wildcats.

Madison Pratt belted a grand slam and had five RBIs for Har-Ber. Logue added a solo homer and Illeana Sauls and Shae Acosta each crushed doubles for Har-Ber.

Tori Hennarich had a double for Springdale (0-13, 0-3).

PARIS 8, CHARLESTON 0

The Lady Eagles brought out the big bats and rolled to a shutout win behind starter Jadyn Hart.

Hart allowed seven hits and struck out eight to earn the complete-game shutout win.

Kasse Appleton and Kaidence Powers each had three hits for Paris (6-3) and Hart homered. Jayden Wells and Karsen Hart each blasted triples for Paris (6-3).

PRAIRIE GROVE 6, BERRYVILLE 5

Kelsey Pickett blasted a walk-off double to cap a four-run seventh inning as the Lady Tigers stunned Berryville.

Prairie Grove (6-3, 1-0) trailed 5-2 with one out in the seventh before the Lady Tigers unloaded six straight hits. Chloe Hillian started the rally with a one-out single, followed by a Charity Stearman triple. Elizabeth Stoufer plated Stearman with an RBI double and Sydney Stearman delivered an RBI single, scoring Stoufer to tie the game at 5-5.

Makinsey Parnell delivered a double to centerfiel­d, but Stearman was thrown out at the plate. It didn’t matter as Pickett crushed a double to left, with Parnell racing home for the win.

Hillian earned the win, but was roughed up for 13 hits.

Macie Roy was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for the Bobcats (2-3, 0-1). LoraGrace Hill and Karlea Standlee also had three hits each.

PREP SOCCER

BOYS BENTONVILL­E 2, ROGERS HERITAGE 2

Bentonvill­e had the lead on two occasions but couldn’t hold it and had to settle for a tie with Heritage during 6A-West play at Gates Stadium.

The two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime, as Andrew Wagner provided the Tigers (2-0-3, 1-0-2) with their first goal. Johnny Merlos then scored to give Bentonvill­e a 2-1 lead before Heritage tied it again.

Bentonvill­e returns to action Friday at home against Fayettevil­le.

HARRISON 3, HUNTSVILLE 0

Kale Thomason scored two goals to lead Harrison to a 4A-West Conference win over Huntsville.

Jayden Rudelis scored off an assist by Blake Shrum to give the Goblins (15-1, 1-0) a 1-0 halftime lead. Thomason scored an unassisted goal, then added another off a free kick with an assist by Connor Phillips.

Grayson Dupre recorded the shutout in goal for Harrison.

FARMINGTON 7, GENTRY 2

Sophomore Jorge Cervantes had two goals and one assist to lead Farmington past Gentry.

Senior Toni Cervantes, juniors Mateo Carbonel and Luis Zavala, sophomore Caleb Blakely, and Sutter Thompson also contribute­d goals for the Cardinals.

GIRLS HARRISON 7, HUNTSVILLE 0

Olivia Pall and Clare Barger each recorded a hat trick as Harrison rolled to a 4A-West Conference win at home over Huntsville.

The Lady Goblins led 5-0 at halftime by scoring their goals within a 9-minute span. Pall and Barger each had two goals, then Mia Barrett scored Harrison’s fourth goal.

Pall completed her hat trick 5 minutes into the second half, then Barger scored her third goal with 14 minutes remaining. Barger also had two assists.

FARMINGTON 4, GENTRY 0

Freshmen Matisse Ames and Sara Sisk each scored goals to lead Farmington past Gentry.

Junior Lynley Bowen and sophomore Emma Ortiz also scored for the Lady Cardinals.
