FARMINGTON 20, SPRINGDALE 19

The Cardinals stayed perfect on the season, but it came down to a late field goal miss at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium in nonconfere­nce action.

Springdale (0-3) drove almost the length of the field after a Farmington punt was ruled to have rolled into the end zone, giving the Red’Dogs the ball at the 20. From there Springdale drove inside the Farmington 30, but a field goal attempt sailed wide left with two seconds left and the Cardinals hung on.

The Class 7A Red’Dogs scored the first 19 points of the game, all in the second quarter. Springdale quarterbac­k Landon Phipps put his team on the scoreboard with a 13-yard scoring pass to Davon Sparks, then added a 65-yarder to Chris Cortez. Phipps also ran 35 yards for a touchdown, and had an 80-yard touchdown run called back on a penalty.

After being shut out in the first half, the Cardinals (3-0) finally got on the board in the third quarter on a 29-yard scoring pass from Cameron Vanzant to Kanye Taylor. Later in the quarter Vanzant hit Justin Logue on an 8-yard scoring strike to pull the Cardinals within 19-13 heading into the fourth quarter.

Farmington grabbed a 20-19 lead on a Springdale fumbled punt, with the Cardinals recovering at the Red’Dogs’ 10. From there, Caden Elsik scored from the 7 and Luis Zavala added what proved to be the game-winning extra-point.

Both teams have byes this week and will open conference play in two weeks.

GENTRY 42, STILWELL, OKLA. 7

Chris Bell rushed for 153 yards and scored 2 touchdowns to lead the unbeaten Pioneers to a nonconfere­nce win.

Gentry (3-0) is off to its best start to a season in recent history.

Also for the Pioneers, Garrison Jackson had a touchdown catch and an intercepti­on.

The Pioneers will have a bye this week before opening 4A-1 Conference play at Huntsville on Sept. 24.

POTEAU 35, ALMA 12

Poteau sophomore Dax Collins broke free for a 92-yard touchdown run with under two minutes to play in the first half Friday as the Pirates rolled to a win over Alma.

Poteau (2-1) had scored moments earlier following a long punt return to take a 21-6 lead on Collins’ 7-yard run.

Alma ( 0- 2) trailed 7- 6 after one quarter of play. Dylan Tucker’s 15-yard touchdown put the visitors ahead 7-0. Conner Stacy, who had nine receptions for 158 yards, set up Alma’s first score with a 39-yard run to the 1.

Reagan Birchfield’s 1-yard run pulled Alma within 7-6.

Todd Mattox scored on a 3-yard run to give the Pirates a 14-6 lead early in the second quarter.

Alma missed two chances in the first half, failing to convert on fourth down from the Pirates’ 20 and turning the ball over at the 5.

Ben Brooks’ 5-yard run accounted for Poteau’s final TD with 2:32 left in the game.

Sophomore Jackson Daily led Alma on its second TD march of the game, with Brady Noyes rumbling in from the 8 to account for the game’s final points.

Alma had 208 yards passing as a team and 90 yards rushing.

PRAIRIE GROVE 41, PEA RIDGE 28

Ethan Miller scored three touchdowns and Colin Faulk returned an intercepti­on for a touchdown to lead Prairie Grove past Pea Ridge.

Miller carried 10 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 99 yards and a score. Conner Whetsell added 81 yards rushing on 14 attempts and Faulk contribute­d 60 yards rushing on eight carries.

CEDARVILLE 16, GREEN FOREST 0

Cedarville intercepte­d three passes and allowed only 80 total yards to post a shutout victory over Green Forest.

Greyson Polk returned an intercepti­on for a touchdown for Cedarville, which played without four starters in the game. Brady Perkins and Darryl Kattich also had intercepti­ons for the Pirates.

Kattisch had 112 yards rushing and a touchdown on 25 carries while Hayden Partain added 57 yards rushing on 12 attempts.

CHARLESTON 35, POTTSVILLE 14

Sophomore Reese Merechka and junior Bryton Ketter scored two touchdowns each to help guide Charleston past Pottsville.

On defense, senior Ransom Merechka 14 tackles, including five solo takedowns, and he recovered a fumble. Hunter Little added 12 tackles and caused a fumble.

HACKETT 46, PANAMA, OKLA. 18

Cole Ketchum returned an intercepti­on 75 yards for a touchdown and kickoffs 77 and 75 yards for touchdowns to lead Hackett over Panama, Okla.

Ethan Slavens threw for 174 yards and a touchdown while Peyton Hester caught five passes for 69 yards and a score while leading the Hornets 10 tackles, including nine solo takedowns.

SUBIACO ACADEMY 64, ROSE BUD 20

Quarterbac­k Wes Schluterma­n accounted for more than 300 yards of total offense, threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to help the Trojans improve to 3-0 in 8-man action.

Schluterma­n completed 14- of- 25 passes for 235 yards and added 96 yard rushing on just nine carries as Subiaco Academy led 34-12 at halftime.

Senior Justin Post finished with five receptions for 155 yards and three touchdowns for the Trojans. Senior Jeadan Nieveld led the Trojans defense with nine tackles, while junior Luke Castro added eight tackles and an intercepti­on.

PARIS 54, WEST FORK 0

Paris piled up 449 yards of total offense to zip past West Fork.

Duke Walker rushed for 109 yards on nine attempts to lead six Eagles who had at least one carry. Chase Watts was 9 of 13 passing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Nate Henderson had 10 tackles and Andrew Wells nine tackles to lead Paris.

Beau Baine had two of the three intercepti­ons for Paris and he returned one for a 96-yard touchdown in the first quarter. West Fork managed 137 yards of total offense.

HUNTSVILLE 48, LINCOLN 0

Huntsville grabbed a 42-0 lead at halftime while easing past Lincoln.

Tucker Bradley scored two touchdowns on runs of 12 and 36 yards for the Eagles. Kolton Reynolds intercepte­d two passes and had a 32-yard catch for a touchdown.

Brandon Rashano returned an intercepti­on 25 yards for a touchdown.
