FAYETTEVIL­LE — Nola Ruth Seidel Van Scyoc,

95, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away November 4, 2021, in Fayettevil­le, Ark. She was born January 13, 1926, in Tipton, Kan., to Charles Jacob Seidel and Esther Elise Zimmerman Seidel.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at Fort Hays State University (Kansas) and served as Assistant to the Director of Secondary Education for a period.

At various times, Nola was a teacher, secretary, librarian, Sunday School teacher, scout leader, volunteer, and tutor, but most of all, she enjoyed being a homemaker and participat­ing in family activities. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fayettevil­le.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leo Ledgerwood Van Scyoc; a son- in- law, John Gordon Holcomb of Fayettevil­le; a step-grandson, Walter Aidan Robinson of Fayettevil­le; three brothers, Walter Seidel of Phillipsbu­rg, Kan., Donald Seidel of Duluth, Ga., Eugene Seidel of Tipton, Kan.; and two sisters, Elna Germer of Hebron, Neb., and Vera Anne Hemphill of Lincoln, Neb.

Nola is survived by two daughters, Joyce V. Van Scyoc Bocksnick and her husband, John of Willow Spring, N.C., and Carol E. Van Scyoc and her husband, Walter Robinson of Fayettevil­le; two sons, Eric L. Van Scyoc and his wife, Jo Ann, of Bay Village, Ohio, and Karl C. Van Scyoc and his wife, Brenda of Magnolia, Texas; six grandchild­ren, Hans Bocksnick and wife Megan of Charleston, S.C. (John Robert, Benjamin, Rosalie); Roger Bocksnick and wife, Regrin of Pacifica, Calif. ( Amelia); Joseph Holcomb and wife Bhakti of Fayettevil­le (Maya, Leo); Jade Holcomb Cameron and husband Anthony of Goshen, Ark. (Abram, Audrey); Piper Van Scyoc Wakefield and husband, Benjamin of Cleveland, Ohio (Oliver); and Mary Ruth Van Scyoc of Magnolia, Texas; a step-granddaugh­ter Amy Robinson Wilkes and husband Jessie of Huntsville, Ark.
