NWA Fishing Report

BEAVER LAKE

Walleye are spawning in the river arms.

Reese Jones at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers recommends trolling for walleye in the White and War Eagle tributaries with Flicker Shad crank baits that have some chartreuse in the color pattern. Swim baits and nightcrawler rigs are also good for walleye trolling.

No report of white bass spawning yet, Jones said. White bass start spawning soon after the walleye spawn happens.

Crappie are biting in the White and War Eagle tributaries. Fish 15 feet deep around wood cover with minnows or jigs. Striped bass are scattered from Rocky Branch park into the White and War Eagle tributaries. Brood minnows are the best bait. Lures that resemble threadfin shad are good to use. Black bass are biting well on crank baits, jerk baits and Alabama rigs.

Southtown Sporting Goods in Fayetteville reports good bluegill fishing with crickets or worms. Catfish are biting fair on a variety of baits.

BEAVER TAILWATER

Beaver Dam Store reports good trout fishing with nightcrawlers. Power Bait in bright colors is good to use. The top lures are size 5 countdown Rapalas and small olive-colored hair jigs with some black or orange strands mixed in.

Guide Austin Kennedy recommends fishing for walleye between Houseman Access and Holiday Island with crank baits, minnows or nightcrawler rigs.

LAKE FAYETTEVILLE

David Powell at the lake office recommends fishing for crappie with hair jigs or minnows at various depths. Fishing near the old intake tower is a good spot to try. Try crank baits for black bass.

LAKE SEQUOYAH

Mike Carver at the lake bait shop said crappie and bluegill are biting well near the old White River bridge. Use minnows or jigs for crappie. Go with worms or crickets for bluegill.

EASTERN OKLAHOMA

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports fair fishing for black bass at Lake Eucha with crank baits, Alabama rigs or plastic worms. Crappie are biting fair on jigs or minnows.

At Grand Lake, crappie fishing is good with jigs or spoons. Black bass fishing is good with crank baits, plastic worms, spinner baits or Alabama rigs.

Black bass fishing at Lake Tenkiller is fair with crank baits, Alabama rigs or plastic worms. Crappie are biting well on minnows or jigs fished around brush and docks.

BELLA VISTA

Chip Wiseman at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said trout fishing is good at Lake Brittany with Power Bait or small spoons. Try for crappie at any Bella Vista lake with minnows six to 12 feet deep. Black bass are biting Alabama rigs, crank baits or jerk baits.

SWEPCO LAKE

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass fishing is good with crank baits or any type of soft plastic lure. Try a spinner bait on breezy days.

TABLE ROCK LAKE

Focused Fishing Guide Service said black bass are being caught mostly from the tops of brush piles or the tops of trees 10 to 20 feet deep.

Try a swim bait on a one-quarter-ounce jig head on calm, sunny days. An Alabama rig works better on cloudy days. Deep-diving jerk baits may also work. The crank bait bite is hit or miss. Try crank baits in the Kings River arm.
