“How often should air filters in your HVAC system need to be cleaned?”

-

Answer:

Regularly, but remember there is no way to purify every little thing out of your air – it’s perfectly normal to have things like dust in your air. However, you should be aware of other airborne contaminants that need to be filtered from your air. Some of the most common things found in your air are: hair, allergens, dust, pet dander, moisture, viruses and bacteria.

Many of these things are not meant to be breathed in for long periods of time. Pathogens like viruses or bacteria can even cause illnesses to spread around your home. Knowing what’s in your air and how well your filtration system is working could make a huge difference – especially if people live in your home who are sensitive to lung irritants.

There are several things you can do as a homeowner to promote healthier air in your home.

- Performing AC maintenance by checking and changing your air filters regularly is a huge way to ensure cleaner air.

- Rugs and carpets often consist of many threads. By routinely cleaning floor coverings you can significantly reduce what gets released into the air and into your lungs.

- Cooking in the kitchen often causes liquid evaporation to occur. Turning on those kitchen vents when you’re cooking will help suck the moisture straight from the air and push it directly outside.

If you’re still concerned about your indoor air quality, our professionals can test for a wide range of air pollutants.
