Fayettevil­le wins in straight sets over Rogers

FAYETTEVIL­LE — No. 6 Fayettevil­le was dynamite attacking and from the service line to claim a 25-12, 25-16, 25-8 win over Rogers on Tuesday evening in Bulldog Arena.

Brooke Rockwell hammered 17 kills and added three aces, while Maddie Lafata added eight kills and Regan Harp six as the Lady Purple’Dogs, ranked sixth in the country by Max Preps were in control most of the night.

Kennedy Phelan, who has committed to play at Florida State, dished out 27. assists and added five aces

Fayettevil­le coach Jessica Phelan said her group maintains confidence without being cocky while improving to 21-2 overall and 13-0 in the 6A-West.

“They don’t overlook anyone,” Phelan said. “I feel like that’s where we’re at. They’re a confidence group with a lot of seniors and I think for us what we want to do, we have three more matches. We want to be building into the state tournament.

‘We have big things to play for the next couple weeks. We got to Southside and that can shore us up the one seed. The next game could win you the outright conference championsh­ip, which these kids didn’t do that last year.

“We want to be marching forward and moving in the right direction.

Rogers coach Brandon Johnson said facing a team like Fayettevil­le makes his Lady Mounties better.

“They are real good,” Johnson said. “And I hope we see’em again. That’s the goal. I think we played better this time than the last time even though the score in the third set didn’t reflect that. We were much better on the net than we were the first time. We have to be a much better serve receive team against a really good serve, one of the best in the country.

“They found their groove but I liked the way we competed in the middle parts of the game.”

Lauryn Heinle led the Lady Mounties with seven digs and Hailey Prendes added six. Brookly Weaver finished with three kills.

Fayettevil­le’s Ashley Ruff was honored prior to the game for topping the 1,000-career dig plateau in her last match.

Fayettevil­le gets set for a huge matchup at Fort Smith Southside on Thursday, while Rogers heads to Bentonvill­e West.

GREENWOOD 3, SILOAM SPRINGS 0

Myia McCoy hammered 14 kills to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-20) win over Siloam Springs.

Landis Luke chipped in six kills, while Lilly Williams added five kills and a solo block for Greenwood (18-2, 11-0). McCoy also added four digs and a solo block. Tori Howard added eight digs and Ashlyn Butler dished out 12 assists.

FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 3, ROGERS HERITAGE 0

Gabi DuPree and Sophia Neihouse were a potent 1-2 punch at the net to lead the Lady Mavericks to a 25-16, 2517, 25-15 in 6A-West Conference action.

DuPree finished with a team-high 15 and hit .462, while Neihouse chipped in with 11 and hit .368. Kennedy Meadors contribute­d 13 assists and three aces, while Mileah Neal added 10 assists and four aces. Tinsley Freeman added a teamhigh seven digs.

BENTONVILL­E WEST 3, SPRINGDALE 0

Trinity Luckett hammered 14 kills and Riley Richardson added 11 to lead the Lady Wolverines to a 25- 17, 25- 11, 25-13 win over Springdale in 6A-West Conference play.

Nandhini Praveen dished out 42 assists and added 12 digs to register a double-double. Ana Bastos also enjoyed a big night with seven kills,17 digs and three aces. Ava Bennett also added 19 digs and three aces.

BENTONVILL­E 3, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 2

The Lady Tigers knocked off the Wildcats 25-12, 22-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-13 in a key 6A-West Conference matchup.

Gloria Cranney registered a double-double with 29 assists and 14 digs. Madison Hooper led the way with 18 kills, while Maddie Lee chipped in 14 for the Lady Tigers. Reagan Tunnell added 12 kills.
