GIRLS FARMINGTON 69, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 23

An 18-7 outburst in the first quarter set the tone for Farmington’s second win in as many days as the Lady Cardinals rolled past Providence during Thursday’s action at Cardinal Arena.

Arkansas signee Jenna Lawrence had 23 points and Marin Adams for 14 for Farmington (2-0), whose head coach Brad Johnson recorded his 300th career victory at the school during Wednesday’s game against Locust Grove, Okla.

The Lady Cardinals, who will take on Valley Springs at 4 p.m. today in the Bergman Holiday Hoopsgivin­g Classic, led 33-14 at halftime and 59-21 after three quarters.

CABOT 51, BENTONVILL­E 47

Bentonvill­e fell behind early and never recovered as Cabot handed the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season in a game played Thursday at Cabot.

Cabot built a 13- 9 lead after one quarter and extended it to a 26-20 halftime margin. Bentonvill­e (1-1) did pull within 36-31 after three quarters and outscored the Lady Panthers 16-15 over the final eight minutes.

Ella Mae Campbell had 13 points and Anna Lee Kulka 11 for the Lady Tigers, who travel Saturday to Mountain Home.

BERGMAN 64, YELLVILLE-SUMMIT 49

Ruby Trammell scored 12 of her 22 points in the first quarter as Bergman defeated Yellville-Summit and moved to Saturday’s championsh­ip game in the Flippin Arvest Classic.

Trammell led a trio of players in double figures for the Lady Panthers (11-0), who extended their win streak to 54 games. Bergman led 18-14 after one quarter and 31-22 at halftime, then extended it to a 47-35 margin after three quarters.

Taryn Holt added 14 points and Maddi Holt 13 for the Lady Panthers, who will play Norfork in the championsh­ip game.

BOYS PEA RIDGE 58, SUBIACO ACADEMY 46

Pea Ridge withstood a strong third-quarter comeback attempt and defeated Subiaco Academy in a game between regional counterpar­ts Thursday at Blackhawk Arena.

The Blackhawks (4-0) appeared to be in control with a 34-18 halftime lead, only to have Subiaco outscore Pea Ridge 19- 6 in the third quarter and make it a 40-37 game. The Blackhawks then outscored the Trojans 18-9 over the final 8 minutes to secure the victory.

J.B. Bledsoe had five three-pointers and finished with 23 points while Josh Turner added 10 for Pea Ridge, which returns to action Monday and Tuesday in the Lincoln Turkey Slam. The Blackhawks take on Green Forest at 11 a.m. Monday, then will meet Ozark Christian at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

FARMINGTON 79, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 44

Layne Taylor recorded his second double-double in as many days to lead Farmington to a victory at home over Providence.

Taylor finished with 15 points and 14 assists and also had 8 rebounds for the Cardinals (2-0), who will return to action Saturday against Dumas in the Bergman Holiday Hoopsgivin­g Classic. Maddox Mahan was next with 15, all on three-pointers, while Jaxon Berry chipped in 10.

CLARKSVILL­E 50, SHILOH CHRISTIAN 47

The Panthers rallied in the fourth quarter to knock off Shiloh Christian.

Clarksvill­e trailed 24-20 at halftime and 42-38 at the end of the third quarter before outscoring the Saints 12-5 in the final 8 minutes.

Gage Reed led the Panthers with 12 points. Jeremiah Estep and Braxton Payne scored 8 each.

FARMINGTON 85, LOCUST GROVE, OKLA. 43

Layne Taylor had a double- double with 17 points and 10 assists as Farmington opened its season with a rout at home over Locust Grove.

Taylor led four players in double figures for the Cardinals (1-0). Sam Kirkman and Caleb Blakely each had 12 points and Jaxon Berry added 11. Kirkman scored all his points on 3-pointers, while Blakely and Berry each grabbed six rebounds.
