SUN BELT MEN ARKANSAS STATE 70, TENNESSEE-MARTIN 64

Down eight with just more than seven minutes remaining Tuesday night, Arkansas State rallied to take down Tennessee-Martin at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Omar El-Sheikh posted his first double-double as a Red Wolf, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Caleb Fields led all scorers with 17 points and the junior added seven assists to lead ASU (3-2).

The game featured nine ties and 10 lead changes, with neither team leading by double digits. Tennessee-Martin (3-4) looked to grab control with a 9-1 run after the game was 48-48. The Red Wolves then closed on a 21-7 run, remaining unbeaten at home this season.

Markise Davis and Malcolm Farrington joined El-Sheikh and Fields in double figures with 15 and 14 points, respective­ly, both setting season highs.

SWAC MEN UAPB 70, CROWLEY’S RIDGE 56

Chris Greene’s 22 points and seven rebounds helped get the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff back into the win column Tuesday at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff.

Reserve Robert Lewis scored 15 points for UAPB (2-6), which had lost five consecutiv­e games. But the Golden Lions scored 38 points inside the lane and got 27 points from their bench to hold on.

UAPB led 51-43 with just over 13 minutes left in the game before a lay-up from Kylen Milton started a 10-0 run to build an 18-point cushion. The Golden Lions increased its lead to as many as 19 late.

Shaun Doss added 11 points for UAPB, which shot 27 of 58 (46.6%) from the floor to help make up for an 8 of 20 (40%) effort from the foul line.

B.J. Johnson had 17 points, and Braxton Cousins followed with 16 points for Crowley’s Ridge (1-6). The Pioneers were 21-of-54 (38.9%) shooting and committed 18 turnovers in dropping their fifth game in a row.

SUN BELT WOMEN OKLAHOMA 95, ARKANSAS STATE 70

A dominant 34-19 fourth quarter helped Oklahoma overwhelm Arkansas State Tuesday in the second half of a doublehead­er at Jonesboro’s First National Bank Arena.

The Red Wolves trailed by six after the first quarter but hung within single digits for nearly the entirety of the first three quarters. The visiting Sooners then broke the game open with a 15-2 run over four minutes — all 13 players who saw time for Oklahoma (5-1) scored at least four points.

Izzy Higginbott­om finished with a gamehigh 15 points for the Red Wolves and sophomore Anna Griffin grabbed nine rebounds, one shy of a fourth straight game with double-digit boards. But ASU (2-3) committed 20 turnovers which led to 23 Sooner points and helped allowed Oklahoma to score 52 points in the lane.
