SUN BELT WOMEN ARKANSAS STATE 79, MO.-KANSAS CITY 68, OT

With an 11-0 overtime session and a 22-4 run over the final 10 minutes of regulation, Arkansas State (3-3) completed its comeback Saturday afternoon, taking out Missouri-Kansas City (2-4) after trailing by seven with 5:35 left in the second half at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Batesville native Izzy Higginbott­om knocked down 3 three-pointers and finished with a career-high 26 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Lauryn Pendleton, in her second game back after missing a pair of contests with a non-covid illness, added a double-double off the bench for the Red Wolves — the Little Rock Central alumna scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

E’Lease Stafford and Sanaa’ St. Andre combined for 47 of the Roos’ 68 points.

OHIO VALLEY MEN MIAMI (OHIO) 80, UALR 67

Miami (Ohio) grabbed a 23-8 lead within the first seven minutes Saturday afternoon and kept on cruising as it took out the University of Arkansas-Little Rock at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio.

North Little Rock’s D.J. Smith led the Trojans with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting and Nigel John joined him in double figures, scoring 17 points in 22 minutes. But the RedHawks shot 50% from the field and knocked down 14 three-pointers, led by a half-dozen by Billy Smith.

Mekhi Lairy scored a game-high 25 points for Miami (2-4), which finished with 22 assists on its 24 field goals. UALR (2-5) won the battle in the paint, 28-18, but trailed by as many as 18 points and never got closer than six in the second half.
