WHERE REHABILITATION WORKS:
At Pathway to Freedom, celebrating 10 years of changing lives.
“Recidivism of Arkansas Offenders: Findings from the 2016 Release Cohort” is a study released in April 2021 by the Arkansas Department of Corrections that tracked people released from prison in 2016. This report contains the following:
47.5% of all inmates in Arkansas who were released returned to prison within three years of their release date.
22.7% of inmates in Arkansas who completed the Pathway to Freedom program returned to prison within three years of their release date.
Celebrating its 10th year, Pathway to Freedom is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers Christ- centered pre-release and re- entry services to prisoners at the Wrightsville Hawkins Unit for Males and to formerly incarcerated individuals upon their release.
The numbers from the above study offer tangible evidence that PTF is producing the best results among all programs in the Arkansas Division of Corrections that aim to reduce recidivism. PTF will commemorate its 10th anniversary on Wednesday, March 1, with an event at the Osage House in Cave Springs. Featured guests include keynote speaker former Gov. Mike Huckabee and guest speaker Attorney General- elect Tim Griffin. Net proceeds from the event will assist us to ensure men transition back into our communities as productive law-abiding citizens and committed God-fearing men, husbands and fathers.
PTF’s approach not only enables offenders to become contributing members of society, but helps reduce the detrimental effects of crime upon the families and children of offenders. With the involvement of the community and the generosity of private donations, PTF is reducing the high rate of criminal recidivism by changing behavior and changing lives.
