Lavender Marketing and Somewhere, Over the River

-

It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce the ribbon cutting and debut of Lavender Marketing and “Somewhere, Over the River,” owned and published by me, Beth Corey, a Natural Dam native. This marks an important milestone for the small town of Natural Dam: It is the first-ever business to register as a member with the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce and the first-ever marketing company to come from Natural Dam.

I started “Somewhere, Over the River” to tell the stories of the Forgotten Foothills of the Ozarks and to hopefully boost local commerce for small businesses that’s don’t have any other cost-effective way to advertise. I do all of the advertising design and layout, photography, social media management, marketing, public relations, and advertising sales. More than seven years of marketing and public relations experience has taken me from the Gulf Coast to the West Coast, marketing for large corporations, including alongside Learfield with the Arkansas Razorbacks, as well as small businesses. Throughout my travels and experiences, I realized that my heart lies in this region and the local businesses within it. When I started Lavender Marketing in July 2022, I wanted to focus on giving local businesses the same level of professionalism and expertise that I gave to large corporations, at a cost they could afford. Shortly after starting, I realized this area needed more than just an advertising avenue, it needed someone to tell their story. Thus, “Somewhere, Over the River” was born as a tribute to my home, our home. There’s no place like it on Earth – from its natural beauty and rich history, to small businesses that care most about providing their services to the community and its citizens, who would give you the shirts off their backs.

“Somewhere, Over the River” is a unique and exciting publication that is making waves across Crawford County and southern Washington County. Making history as the first womanowned, newsprint publication in the greater Van Buren area, we are thrilled to be entering this new year! With a talented team of writers, including Tom Wing, Lacey Fletcher and Dittany Hammer, we are confident that the Forgotten Foothills of the Ozarks will no longer remain forgotten. Our publication is dedicated to bringing the community together by providing the perfect mix of history and modern lifestyle.

We are so proud of the work that we are doing, and we believe that this publication is a great way to give the people of Crawford County and southern Washington County a voice to be heard. We are excited to see what the new year brings and what stories our writers will tell.

Growing up in small-town Arkansas, we were taught the value of hard work and how important good character is. From my own local venture to Gabrielle Mooney’s music career in Nashville and Jadiann Thompson’s position as the primary weekday evening news anchor for 7News WHDH TV Boston, Massachusetts, small town girls are proving they can follow their big dreams. It’s awe-inspiring to see the huge impact that women from Natural Dam are making, while shining the light of our small community for all the world to see.
