GENTRY — Nathan Donald Hawkins,

94, of Gentry, Ark., died February 12, 2023, in Gentry, Ark. He was born on January 18, 1929, to Tommy Hawkins and Thelma Cain Hawkins in Port Arthur, Texas. Nathan worked for many years at Firestone Tire and Rubber in Lake Charles, La., until his retirement. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing Wii Bowling at the senior center, and playing chess and dominos.

Nathan spent many years raising rabbits, and traveled to so many places to judge them.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Dorothy Hawkins; his parents, Tommy and Thelma Hawkins; his son, Timothy Hawkins; and siblings, Doris Miller, Lionel Hawkins, Ora Ann Perego, and Ervan Hawkins.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Hawkins of the home; his daughter, Terrie Chavez and husband Leland of Texas; two stepsons, Troy Coppedge and wife Shanda of Oklahoma, and Roy Coppedge and wife Crystal of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jeremy Oliver of North Carolina, Terra Grooters of Arkansas, and Hannah Davis and husband Michael of Arkansas; one great-grandchild, Silas Davis; his brother, Gary Hawkins and wife Billie of Oklahoma; one sister- in- law Kathryn Hawkins of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Gentry, Ark. Burial will follow at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown, Ark.
