Still thriving: ‘Drive to Survive’ rolls in for Season 5

WHAT’S NEW ON NETFLIX “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” - Season 5

Gear up and take your places for the Season 5 premiere of the smash-hit Netflix docuseries “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” when it launches on the streamer Friday, Feb. 24. Offering unpreceden­ted access to the talented drivers and the hardworkin­g teams that bring the races to life, “Drive to Survive” follows them through their racing season as they compete for the 2022 FIA Formula 1 world championsh­ip. With all-new rules that prove to be a gamechangi­ng challenge for both teams and drivers, this season will prove to be anything but predictabl­e. WHAT’S NEW ON PRIME “The Consultant” - Season 1

This Friday, Feb. 24, Prime premieres its twisted new series, “The Consultant,” a darkly comedic workplace thriller based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Bentley Little. The series stars Christoph Waltz (“Django Unchained,” 2012) as Regus Patoff, a new consultant who is hired to improve the business at a mobile gaming company in Los Angeles. Exploring the sinister relationsh­ip between boss and employee, the series follows along as the employees on CompWare experience a new host of demands and challenges that put everything — including their lives — into question. Created and executive produced by showrunner Tony Basgallop (“Servant”), “The Consultant” is directed by Matt Shakman (“WandaVisio­n”), Daniel Attias (“Homeland”), Charlotte Brändström (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”), Alexis Ostrander (“Supergirl”), Karyn Kusama (“In Treatment”). WHAT’S NEW ON HULU “Snowfall” - Season 6

The sixth and final season of the FX crime drama “Snowfall” premieres Thursday, Feb. 23, on Hulu. Over the course of the series’ previous five seasons, “Snowfall” has chronicled the story of how an off-the-books CIA operation contribute­d to the destructio­n that rock cocaine leveled upon the vibrant community of South Central L.A. in the 1980s. Now, Season 6 catches back up with the cast in October 1986, as civil war threatens to destroy the Saint family. A desperate Franklin (Damson Idris, “Megan Leavey,” 2017) is forced to rob his Aunt Louie (Angela Lewis, “Top Five,” 2014) and Uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph, “To Live and Die and Live,” 2023) after being wiped out by former CIA officer Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson, “The Wilds”). Meanwhile, Louie has taken over Franklin’s role as Teddy’s sole buyer, undercutti­ng her nephew and creating a competing empire in the process. As Franklin faces losing everyone he loves and everything he’s built for himself, he faces down the KGB, DEA, CIA and the corrupt, fully militarize­d LAPD C.R.A.S.H. units. WHAT’S NEW ON APPLE TV+ “Liason” - Season 1

Explore the endless possibilit­ies of space and time with the new, contempora­ry thriller series “Liason,” when it premieres its first episode on Apple TV+ Friday, Feb. 24. Episodes air weekly on Fridays thereafter. Across the series’ six-episode premiere season, the story explores how the mistakes of our past have the potential to destroy our future. In a high-stakes, multilayer­ed plot, “Liason” sees “espionage and political intrigue play out against a story of passionate and enduring love” (per Apple TV+). WHAT’S NEW ON DISNEY+ “The Low Tone Club” - Season 1

Pick up the tune and join in with the first season of the Colombian youth comedy-drama series “The Low Tone Club,” premiering Wednesday, Feb. 22, on Disney+. Amaranto Molina (played by Colombian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives, “Robarte Un Beso”) is an unconventi­onal music teacher who takes up a job at a school that specialize­s in musical education. But much to Molina’s dismay, the school’s only priority is commercial success, rather than true musical education, passion or talent. Each year, the school’s principal, Eduardo Kramer (Julián Arango, “Metástasis”), chooses five students, nicknamed The High Tones, to be part of the school’s prestigiou­s Teen Band. Molina, on the other hand, is put in charge of The Low Tones, a group of students whose talents do not meet the school’s standards. Using his own unique methods, Molina takes an eccentric approach to bring out the best of each student’s unique talents, allowing them to heal and bring out the best in themselves. Alongside Vives, the cast of “The Low Tone Club” is made up of a cast of talented young artists, including Catalina Polo (“Primate”), Kevin Bury (“The Queen of Flow”), Salomé Camargo Fadul (“Diomedes, el Cacique de La Junta”), Luis Fernando Salas (“Luna, la heredera”), Juan Manuel Lenis (“El Barón”), Juanse Díez (“Decisions: Some Win and Others Lose”), Tim Janssen (“El Barón”) and new talents Pitizion, Elena Vives, Maria Fernanda Marin, Brainer Gamboa, Juan Diego Panadero, Manuela Duque, Melanie Dell’Olmo, Gregorio Umana, Zoila Mariano, Sharik Abusaid, Giseth Mariano, Deisy Mariano and Juan Camilo Gonzalez.
