SPRING DALE— Maryleen Sheila Charles,

-

65, of Spring dale, went to be with our Lord on March 6, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born on April 23, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to James Patrick Keating and Pearl Lena Henley Keating.

She is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws.

Survivors include her husband, George Charles; three sons, Justen Charles, George Charles Jr., and Andrew Charles (Whitney); two brothers, James Keating and John Keating; four sisters, Kathleen Madden, Patricia Fry, Colleen Morris, Maureen Wachsman; and two grandchildren, Zyan Charles and Zaydee Charles.

Maryleen and her beloved husband, George, were married on November 21, 1981, in Kansas City, Mo., and their love story continued for nearly 42 years in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Springdale for the last 33 years.

First a full- time homemaker; when the time was right, Maryleen got into childcare at the professional level, and that was truly her God-given talent. Often called “The- Kid-Whisperer,” she spent the next 17 years dedicating herself to all the students at Helen Tyson Middle School, and First Kids Mother’s Day Out Program of First United Methodist Church in Springdale, where she served as Director for 14 years, and was affectionately known as “Miss Marv” to students, parents, and staff alike. She retired in July 2014 to pursue what she and George liked to call “The 5th Quarter” in retirement.

Nurturing kids of all ages, and serving those less fortunate were her single greatest joy. That, and being with family and friends just enjoying life, and making everyone’s day better. She will be missed by everyone who ever knew her.

A celebration of life will be held on March 15, 2023, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Springdale, with the Reverend Jen Ryerson presiding.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Online condolences can be left at www.siscofuneral.com In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial be made to the Daily Bread ministry of First United Methodist Church of Springdale.
