His strength, dedication and wisdom were influential to the many people he interacted with over the years.

He was born in South Abington, Pa. He joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He married his wife, Ann Covey, in 1957 and worked for WesternElectric Corporation as an Engineer. He retired from Teletype Corporation at the age of 54 after a successful career. During his retirement years he enjoyed traveling, golfing, and became a Master Gardener. He remained a dedicated gardener well into his 80s, was a volunteer driver for the VA Hospital, and had a side job doing taxes for H&R Block for a number of years. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann Covey; daughters, Lynn Morrison (Keith Morrison), Chris Fikes (JohnFikes), and Lee Michna (Roger Michna). Don was always full of “sap and green”: always thinking, planning, observing and doing. He bore beautiful fruit in our lives and on this earth. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends and his strong influence will live on through all of us.

“They still bear fruit in old age:

They are ever full of sap and green.”

Psalm 92:14
