BASEBALL BENTONVILL­E 9, GREENBRIER, TENN. 1

The Tigers took control late, scoring six runs in the top of the sixth inning to knock off Greenbrier, Tenn. in Gulf Shores, Ala. on Monday in the first game of their spring break road trip.

The Tigers (4-5) collected 11 hits with lead-off batter Bryson DeLozier and Tony Woodie leading the charge with 3-for-4 days that included a double and two RBI each. JJ Spafford was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Carter Nye also drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Ethan Payne and Eli McCall combined on the hill to allow four hits with 10 strikeouts.

The Tigers will take on Fayette County, Ala., at 11:30 a.m. today.

MADISON (TENN.) GOODPASTUR­E CHRISTIAN 2, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 1 (9)

Goodpastur­e Christians­cored a run in the top of the ninth inning to edge Har-Ber in Gulf Shores, Ala. on Monday.

The game was a classic with Har-Ber Ross Felder and Gavin Moore battling with Goodpastur­e’s Connor Martin and Luke Vierkant into extra innings tied at 1-1. Felder went six innings, allowed two hits and struck out 12. Moore went three innings and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts. Goodpastur­e’s duo was just as impressive, allowing just four Har-Ber hits with 10 combined strikeouts.

Jeff Zachry accounted for Har-Ber’s lone run with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. Goodpastur­e (4-1) tied the game in the sixth.

Luke Cornelison added a double for the Wildcats (5-3).

Har-Ber will take on Bayshore Christian of Fairhope, Ala., at 4:30 p.m. today.

The War Eagles opened their spring break road trip with back-to-back wins on Monday in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Luke Askew had a huge day at the plate for Heritage (8-2) in the opening game, going 3 for 3 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI to pace the 11-hit attack.

Jack Hamm was also 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBI for the War Eagles, who have won eight straight games.

Dillon Askew pitched four innings to earn the win, allowing just two hits with six strikeouts.

In the second game, Brett Renfrow, Spencer Mounce, Aidan Adair and Hamm all drove in two runs for the War Eagles to highlight a 10-hit attack.

Josh Hinds went four innings to earn the win, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts.

SOCCER GIRLS BENTONVILL­E 4, SPRINGFIEL­D (MO.) KICKAPOO 1

Bentonvill­e received goals from four different players to defeat Springfiel­d Kickapoo.

Riley Ammons, Cheshire Star, CeCePearce, and Abbi Armstrong scored for Bentonvill­e, which improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

SOFTBALL CEDARVILLE (TENN.) JO BYRNS 10, FAYETTEVIL­LE 7

The Lady Bulldogs staged a big late rally but could not overcome a 10-1 deficit on Monday.

Fayettevil­le (1-9) scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning but could not get closer.

Linly Chapman and Claire Chapple each belted a double for Fayettevil­le and Chapman drove in two runs.
