BASEBALL ROGERS HERITAGE 9, TRINITY (ALA.) PRESBYTERI­AN 1

The War Eagles won their ninth game in a row, getting a four-hitter from Luke Askew to knock off Trinity Presbyteri­an in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Tuesday.

Askew went the distance for Heritage (9-2) with six strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

The pitcher got plenty of run support as the War Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning to seize control of the game.

Askew helped his own cause atop the Heritage batting order, going 2 for 4 with a double. Spencer Mounce was 2 for 3 and Aidan Adair added an RBI double.

BENTONVILL­E 8, FAYETTE COUNTY, ALA. 1 BENTONVILL­E 6, PARAGOULD 3

The Tigers knocked off Fayette County in Monday’s first game, taking control of the scoreboard in the second inning with three runs.

Three pitchers combined to allow just five hits with nine strikeouts. Connor Taylor went five innings, allowing four hits with five punchouts.

Carter Nye, Connor Adair and Taylor all had multiple hits and Boyce Read smacked a three-run triple for Bentonvill­e.

Against Paragould, the Tigers built a 6-2 lead and cruised to the win, taking advantage of five errors.

Casey Christ and Brooks Hasencleve­r had a double each for Bentonvill­e (6-5).

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 7, BAYSHORE (ALA.) CHRISTIAN 3

Luke Cornelison banged out three hits to lead the Wildcats to a win in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Tuesday.

Cornelison was 3 for- 4 with a double and an RBI to power Har-Ber’s 13-hit attack. Ross Felder and Braden Sprague also had a double each for the Wildcats.

Tyler Ridley earned the win on the hill, allowing five hits and striking out seven.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play two games today.

SPRINGDALE 5, FAYETTE COUNTY, ALA. 4

The Bulldogs held on to knock off Fayette County on Tuesday to post their second spring break road win in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Springdale carried a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before giving up four runs before getting the final out to earn the win.

Jack Pounders was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI to lead the Red’Dogs. Andrew Lind added a run-scoring double.

Yadi Canales earned the win, allowing just three hits over five innings with a pair of strikeouts.

On Monday, Springdale knocked off Albertvill­e 6-1 as Myron Ercks dominated on the hill with a two-hitter and seven strikeouts.

Lind was 2 for 3 out of the lead-off spot, and Canales was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

GREENWOOD 6, BROOKLAND 3

The Bulldogs made the most of three hits to claim a close win Tuesday at home.

Greenwood managed just three hits, but benefitted from six walks to score six runs.

Austin Mitchell and Brayden Pettigrew each had a double for the Bulldogs.

Aiden Kennon and Mitchell combined to allow just six hits with 14 strikeouts to dominate on the hill.

SOFTBALL LINCOLN 10, COVINGTON, ALA. 2

The Lady Wolves posted a 2-2 mark on their spring break road trip, capped by a win in the finale on Tuesday.

Lincoln (8-6) lost 7-2 to Holtville and 11-0 to Orange Beach, Ala., on Monday, before posting a 4-1 win against West Ridge and the win against Covington on Tuesday.

In the win against Covington, sophomore Brinkey Moreton cranked a three-run home run to pace Lincoln’s seven-hit attack. Ryleigh Landrum was 2-for-4 and Kristin Rhine was 2-for-3.

Moreton also claimed the win in the circle, allowing five hits with 10 strikeouts.

Against West Ridge, Lily Riherd and Moreton led the way at the plate with a double each.

Amber Bryant claimed the win in the circle, allowing just three hits with two strikeouts.
