Sunday, March 26 BENTONVILL­E — Shawn David Treat,

52, of Bentonvill­e, Ark., passed away on March 20, 2023. He was born on July 16, 1970 in Fayettevil­le, Ark.

Shawn spent his younger years rodeoing and served as the President of the 1988 National High School Rodeo Associatio­n.

Shawn went on to join the United States Army. After completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, Shawn was assigned to A Company, 4th Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division ( Light). Shawn was a proud member of the “Wolfhounds”. He earned his Air Assault Wings and his Expert Infantry Badge. In 1995, Corporal Treat earned his honorable discharge.

Shawn then joined the Rogers Fire Department in 2000. During those 23 years Shawn made every attempt to make the department and the fire service of Northwest Arkansas better. He became a Captain in 2004 and was a valued member of the department’s Special Operations Team. He helped teach and guide many of the firefighte­rs across NWA. Shawn received specialize­d training with the Arkansas National Guard for helicopter-based water rescue.

Shawn was also a dad to Gage, Maggie, and Will Treat. He taught them the importance of hands- on work and valuable life lessons. He often took them to their grandparen­ts’ farm where they spent time making memories and learning how to shoot and fish. More recently, you could see him sitting in the stands at ballgames for Maggie and Will, detailing cars with Gage, and eating at their favorite spot, Johnny Brusco’s.

Shawn is survived by his three children: Gage Bo Treat, 17, Maggie Jo Treat, 14, Will Tyler Treat, 12, all of Bentonvill­e, Ark.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Randy and Shirley Treat; and all his grandparen­ts.

A Celebratio­n of Shawn Treats life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Southside Church of Christ, 919 South Dixieland, Rogers, Ark.
