SPRINGDALE — Vernelle Hollingswo­rth,

age 87, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 25, 2023, surrounded by her family. Vernelle was born on May 23, 1935, in Cache, Okla., the daughter of the late Cecil Vaughan and Frances ( Nicholson) Vaughan.

In June of 1975, Vernelle married Guy Erin Hollingswo­rth and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2019. Vernelle worked for 21 years for the Baldwin Piano and Organ Company retiring in 1980. She then went on and was the owner/operator of two specialty dress shops. Vernelle loved to oil paint, work with flowers, and gardening. Her relationsh­ip with her Lord was first and foremost in her life.

Vernelle is survived by her daughter, Marla Thomas; nieces and nephews, Lori Eads, Kerry Mauldin, Michael Mauldin, Sheri Quin, Daunelle Bishop, and Erin DeLeeuw; a sister-in-law, Rita Vaughan; and many friends.

Vernelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, Zonya Diane Thomas; a brother, Donald Vaughan; and a sister, Lavelle Maudlin.

Friends may visit with the family on at the BackstromP­yeatte Funeral Home in Springdale on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral services for Vernelle will be held at the Backstrom- Pyeatte Funeral Home at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023. A private burial will be in the Zion Cemetery.
