FAYETTEVIL­LE — Floy Partain York,

age 95, of Fayettevil­le passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023. She was born December 8, 1927, in Caledonia, Miss., to John and Floy Partain.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Owen “Rudy” York; aunt and uncle ( who raised her), Mr. and Mrs. Joel Earnest Sanders; and cousins, Louise Sanders Logan, Lewis Alston Sanders, John Winston (Bob) Sanders and Earnest Adrian Sanders, all of Steens, Miss.

She was a homemaker and science teacher having taught in Alabama, Bryan, Texas, Springdale, Ark., and substitute­d for a number of years at Fayettevil­le High School.

She was a 1949 graduate of Mississipp­i State College for Women at Columbus, Miss. She was a member of Mount Comfort Church of Christ, Fayettevil­le, Ark.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth McNair and her husband Philippe Douet of Richardson, Texas, and Margaret Mitchell and her husband Aaron of Dallas, Texas; one brother, John Harvey Partain of Caledonia, Miss.; two grandchild­ren, Sarah McNair of Marquette, Mich., and Samuel Owen Mitchell of Dallas, Texas; along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be 11 a. m. Wednesday March 29, 2023, at Moore’s Chapel, with a private burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
