FORT SMITH — Tommye Lynn Alexander

of Fort Smith, Ark., crossed over to be with our Lord on March 31, 2023, with her oldest son, Bill Priakos, Jr., and youngest son, Jason Priakos by her side.

She was born August 23, 1943, in Star City, where she grew up with her sister and two brothers on their family farm.

In school, Tommye was a majorette, a star athlete, voted “best looking” in her class, and class valedictor­ian. Tommye was active in pageants and among many honors given she was crowned Miss Dumas and “Miss Congeniali­ty” in Miss Arkansas. She attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

While raising her children in Fort Smith, she was an avid tennis player and excelled in match play around the city at various locations.

Tommye is joining her loved ones who preceded her in death: father, G. D. Smith, Jr.; mother, Ernestine Holthoff Smith; two brothers, G.D. “Buddy” Smith, III and Terry “T.R.” Smith; and her husband, Dr. Kent Alexander.

Tommye will be forever adored and remembered by her children, Bill Priakos, Jr. (Regan) of Southlake, Texas, Kristian Priakos of Arkadelphi­a, Ark., and Jason Priakos (Christie) of Aurora, Texas. She will continue to shape the lives of her grandchild­ren, William, Ainsley, Mallory, and Nicholas through her eternal love for them. Her memories and stories will continue to be treasured and retold by her sister Claudette Hunnicutt (Don). Memories of Tommye will also be cherished by her many nieces, nephews, and great nephew.

The family will celebrate their love as they lay Tommye to rest in Star City, Ark. on Saturday April 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Leek Cemetery with Bro. Elwin Ollar officiatin­g. A visitation will be held Saturday from 12-1:30 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel in Star City.
