• Family: wife Laverne (deceased), Daughter Trudy (deceased), sons David and Jeffrey (deceased), daughter in law Mary, wife Marjorie (deceased), stepson Tom Montgomery; daughter in law Tracey Montgomery, grandchildren: Jeremy and Misty (deceased).

• You might say that being an attorney runs in the family because: I practiced law, as did two of my brothers and two of my nephews.

• My favorite team: Kansas Jayhawks.

• If I ask to see the doctor, you might want to clarify which one because: I love Dr Pepper.

• My first Arkansas connection: was one of the ships I was on in the Navy, the Uriah M. Rose, which was named after the Little Rock attorney Uriah Milton Rose, a scholarly and influential lawyer in the U.S. who founded the American Bar Association.

• If you had been in the armed crews sent to Russia, rather than Alaska, in World War II: I wouldn’t be here today, because they sank so many of those merchant ships. (They were) like a sitting duck … there was no defense to it.

• How do you stay in such good shape at 100 years old? I don’t know. I told Tom and Tracey that it was probably because of my God. God has directed me to ride my bike consistently. I ride it 3-4 times a day, every day.

• My favorite routine is: to visit the intellectual center (a coffee shop where the problems of the world get solved). My friends come to see me on Saturday.

• My greatest accomplishment is: being a good father, grandfather and great grandfather to my family.

• Something I think everyone should try at least once: exercise. It has helped me stay mentally and physically fit. It’s my start of every day.

• The most delicious meal I’ve ever had: Lobster and steak. The first time was in Kauai, Hawaii.

• The thing that makes me laugh the most: Watching small children and hearing hilarious stories about my great grandsons Leo and Adrian.

• Three words to describe me: It’s a few more than three words, but here they are… disciplined, strong faith and good listener.

• What would surprise your parents the most about what has changed today? You can make a call from anywhere in the world on a cell phone, even in a car. The other thing is water is bottled today and (that) you have to pay for it.
