-

May 24th, 1968 - June 16th, 2023. Carter Bergdorf, a beloved resident of Rogers, Ark., passed away on June 16th, 2023, at the age of 55. He touched the lives of many with his profound sense of wonder, compassion, and musical talent.

From a young age, Carter’s passion for music was evident. He embarked on his musical journey at the tender age of four when he began piano lessons.

By nine, he took up the drums and, astonishingly, joined the Piedmont Highschool Stage Band in 5th grade. His melodious talents resonated within the walls of churches, where he played during his upbringing.

Throughout his high school years, Carter actively participated in the Royal Rangers and church youth group, nurturing his spiritual growth alongside his musical pursuits. He pursued his passion further, earning accolades in music at Northwestern State College and Northeastern State.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Nancy Self, and his treasured children; Cydney Bergdorf, Trevor Self, Tatum Self, and Tristan Self. He will also be deeply missed by his adored grandchildren: Vivian Perryman, Ryker Self, and Aidan Self. Carter’s parents, Kila and Harvey Bergdorf, and his siblings, Jason and Shane Bergdorf, carry his memory close to their hearts. He will be dearly missed by Bill Parker and other friends from the Lion’s Club.

Carter’s presence in the community was transformative. As a devoted teacher and role model, his impact extended beyond the realm of music.

His acts of kindness and his unwavering zest for life continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

To honor Carter’s remarkable life, his family will hold a private celebration.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, contributions to the Arlene M. Warner Music Scholarship Fund would be greatly appreciated. By supporting this cause, you will help carry forward Carter’s legacy of fostering the gift of music within our community.

In the timeless words of Yoda, “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the force.”
