FAYETTEVIL­LE — Mr. Robert Joseph Roberson,

age 90, of Fayettevil­le passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, with loved ones by his side. He was born October 12, 1933, to the late Harvey Lemuel Roberson, Sr. and Louisa (Millie) Bray Roberson. Robbie was raised in Burlington, N.C. with five brothers and three sisters all of whom preceded him in death.

Robbie served 22 years in the United States Air Force including overseas tours in Germany, Guam, and Korea. He retired as a Master Sergeant and instructor at the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) in Indian Head, Md. Following his retirement from active duty, he began a new career as a Munitions Logistics Specialist working for the Department of the Navy in Indian Head, Md., and the Pentagon in Arlington, Va.

Robbie was active in several civic organizati­ons including the Free Masons and Kiwanis. He volunteere­d for local food banks, the Gravette Historical Museum, and numerous community improvemen­t projects. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.

He was married for 62 years to his beloved wife, Judith Jean Honderich Roberson, who predecease­d him.

Robbie is survived by four children, Bobbi Jo Pittman (Paul) of Newport, N.C., Susan Michelle Johnson (Darrell) of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Cynthia Ann Metcalf (Robert) of Oxford, N.C. and Kenneth Wayne Roberson (Kimberly) of Goshen, Ark.; nine grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.
