New leader of athletic foundation addresses Springdale School Board
SPRINGDALE — The Springdale Athletic Foundation recently named Donald Tucker its executive director, and Tucker briefly addressed the School Board at its meeting Tuesday.
The foundation was established in 2011 with the goal of enhancing the quality of and interest in Springdale Public Schools athletics by “procuring and providing funds for student-athletes, facilities, equipment and staff development,” according to the nonprofit’s website and a School District news release.
Tucker, a 1990 Springdale High School graduate, has more than 30 years of experience as the owner of a medical courier company and an information technology company, according to the news release.
“I am so pleased with the foundation’s selection of Mr. Tucker,” Superintendent Jared Cleveland told the board.
Tucker said there’s a lot of work ahead.
“We enjoy our partnership with the Springdale Public Schools,” Tucker told board members. “I’ve been in Springdale my whole life. The fact that I get to serve the kids in any capacity is a privilege, and I understand that. The fact that I get to do it in an official capacity is even better for me. We’re very excited and passionate about helping athletics in this district and helping the kids.”
The foundation hired Tucker, 51, in December, according to Trent Jones, district communications director.
In the news release, Tucker said he looks forward to using his community partnerships and fundraising skills to support Springdale athletics.
In other business, the School Board unanimously approved entering into a contract with Celeste Creamer of Creamer Alterations to hem and repair choir clothes. The estimated yearly cost for the district is $420 to $500, according to the meeting agenda, and the contract runs from Tuesday to Jan. 8, 2026.
Creamer is a teacher at Springdale’s Central Junior High School. The reason justifying the contract is that Creamer “provides quality and timely services for the alterations and repair of choir clothing,” according to the district. Circumstances supporting the contract were “budget constraints necessitate purchasing services at competitive prices and the ability to provide a quick fulfillment of services needed,” according to the district.
“We’re very excited and passionate about helping athletics in this district and helping the kids.”
