BENTONVILL­E — Patsy “Yvonne” James,

age 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Circle of Life in Springdale, Ark.

Yvonne was born December 3, 1935, to Charles and Lela Davis (Coleman). She graduated from Bentonvill­e High School in 1953, and soon married her high school sweetheart, Mel James, at the Cave Springs Church of Christ when it was located in downtown Cave Springs. Mel’s job led them to many places over the years, New York, Pennsylvan­ia, Texas, Georgia to name a few, but northwest Arkansas was always home. They returned to Bentonvill­e in 1979 where Yvonne raised cattle while

Mel completed his career.

She was a longtime member of the Cave Springs Church of Christ, active in Benton County Extension Clubs, and was once the Georgia State Archery Champion. She loved the farm, gardening, quilting, crafts and to read her Bible.

Yvonne is survived by her husband of 70 years, Mel James; son, Greg and wife Michelle; grandchild­ren, Hunter James, Kasey Rhodes, Bradley Rhodes, Lyndsey Edwards and Landon Wheeler; and seven great-grandchild­ren; and very special niece, Debbie James Greenawalt and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lela Davis; her daughter, Julie James; and her sister, Treonne Hill.

Services for Yvonne will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Cave Springs Church of Christ. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Hart Cemetery of Rogers, Ark.
