This timeline shows a history of Shawna Cash’s arrests and charges as well as court filings and rulings pertaining to her capital murder trial in the 2021 death of Pea Ridge police officer Kevin Apple.

May 17, 2018: Benton County sheriff’s deputy arrests Shawna Cash, then 19, in connection with theft by receiving, but prosecutor­s don’t file formal charge. Aug. 7, 2018: Prosecutin­g Attorney Matthew Durrett charges Cash with possession of drug parapherna­lia for methamphet­amine or cocaine. She fails to appear for court. Police later arrest Cash on the failure to appear warrant. Judge sentences her to probation on the original charges, which prosecutor­s later move to revoke.*

Sept. 7, 2018: Washington County prosecutor­s charge Cash with felony failure to appear. She pleads guilty and is sentenced to probation, which prosecutor­s later move to revoke.*

Feb. 28, 2019: Prosecutor­s charge Cash with possession of methamphet­amine or cocaine after being arrested by Rogers police. She later fails to appear for court. She later pleads guilty and is sentenced to probation. Prosecutor­s later move to revoke Cash’s probation. She fails to appear.*

July 24, 2019: Prosecutor­s charge Cash with residentia­l burglary and theft of property after she was arrested by the Bentonvill­e Police Department the previous month. She is sentenced to probation. Prosecutor­s later move to revoke Cash’s probation, but she fails to appear. Cash is later arrested on the failure to appear and bonds out.*

Jan. 3, 2020: Prosecutor­s charge Cash with theft of property and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card.*

Jan. 31, 2020: Prosecutor­s charge Cash with possession of methamphet­amine or cocaine after her arrest the previous month by Benton County sheriff’s deputies. She later fails to appear twice and is arrested on the failure to appear twice, but bonds out each time.*

Dec. 14, 2020: Prosecutor­s charge

Cash with theft by receiving.* Jan. 19, 2021: Prosecutor­s charge

Cash with theft by receiving.* Feb. 4, 2021: Prosecutor­s charge

Cash with theft by receiving.* Feb. 18, 2021: The White Hall Police Department arrests Cash in connection with theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance (meth) and felony possession of drug parapherna­lia after being stopped by officers who said she was a passenger in a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Springdale.*

June 24, 2021: Cash is released from jail on bond after being arrested in connection with failure to appear.

June 26, 2021: Pea Ridge police officer Kevin Apple is killed. Law enforcemen­t arrests Cash and Elijah Andazola in connection with Apple’s death.

June 28, 2021: Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren orders Cash to be held without bond in the county jail. Benton County Circuit Judge Robin Green orders Andazola to be held without bond in jail.

July 19, 2021: Prosecutor­s file formal charges against Cash and Andazola. Cash is charged with capital murder, escape, fleeing, two counts of aggravated assault, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, criminal

mischief, obstructin­g government­al operations and reckless driving. Andazola is charged with accomplice to capital murder and escape. Prosecutor­s file aggravatin­g factors needed in order to seek death penalty for Cash. Prosecutor­s file formal charges against Andazola.

Aug. 26, 2021: Andazola pleads

not guilty to charges.

Sept. 15, 2021: Cash pleads not

guilty.

Jan. 18, 2022: Prosecutor­s announce they won’t seek the death penalty against Andazola. July 5, 2022: Karren rules law enforcemen­t officers may wear their uniforms while attending Cash’s trial.

Nov. 22, 2023: Karren rules prosecutor­s can access Cash’s mental health and medical records. Jan. 5, 2024: Karren rules prosecutor­s may play some of Cash’s recorded phone calls from the Benton County Jail during her trial.
