SPRINGDALE — Betty Jane Emery Avants,

89, of Springdale, Ark. passed on to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 13, 2024, after a sudden decline in her health. Betty was born October 21, 1934, in Primghar, Iowa.

She was predecease­d by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest A. Emery of Springdale, Ark. She was one of two children. The other surviving sibling, Kathy Jewell, married to her husband Nick Jewell, are residing in Paris, Ark.

Betty had four children, the eldest deceased before, Scott Loren Skelton, formerly of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and survived by Jacob Leon Skelton and wife Monica M, of Lexington, Ky., Forrest Aaron Skelton and wife Regina, of Russellvil­le, Ark., and Vicki Elayne Ezell-Rodgers and husband Marion Lyndsey Rodgers of Jonesboro, Ark. She has seven surviving grandchild­ren, Audrey, Gavin, Devon, Miranda, Bryce, Pierson, Olivia; and multiple great-grandchild­ren.

From a very young age Betty had an infatuatio­n with animals, specifical­ly, Pomeranian dogs. So much so, that she had two or more for her entire adult life. She enjoyed gardening, plants, trees, and rivers. She was fond of driving her many Volkswagen “Bugs.”

Predominan­tly, it was her strong work ethic, that motivated her for decades to be the quintessen­tial “Avon Lady” of northwest Arkansas.

Funeral service is scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2024, at 2:00 CST at Sisco Funeral Chapel, 705 W Meadow Ave, Springdale, Ark. Graveside burial at Bluff Cemetery, 900 N Shiloh Street, Springdale, Ark., immediatel­y following.
