SPRINGDALE — On Friday, February 23, 2024, Philip E. Hadley,

-

loving husband, gather, and grandfather, passed away at the age 95.

Phil was born on October 28, 1928, in Warren, Ohio to John Lee and Beryl Hadley. He studied at Perdue University before joining the U.S. Army Air Corps, which resulted in a tour of the Korean War. On December 26, 1958, he married Carolyn Hill Hadley. They raised two sons, Tom, and Jon, and two daughters Marianne and Elizabeth.

Phil, being a soft-spoken man, was known by all for his dry sense of humor. He was always fixing or building something around the house or ranch, from helping his sons rebuild motorcycle engines, to helping his daughters with their horses, to building a working torpedo in the garage with his wife for a project for McDonnell Douglas where he worked. He was extremely smart and knowledgeable on almost any matter and always wanted to help no matter the project, especially anything electrical. His knowledge propelled him to a successful career as an aeronautical engineer working on projects from the Missile Defense Project on the Kwajalein Atoll Island in the South Pacific to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, with this and several projects improving airplanes, torpedoes and atmospheric reentry vehicles for Douglas Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas, and the Boeing Corporation.

Phil was preceded in death by his son, Tom; and his daughter, Elizabeth.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his son, Jon; his daughter, Marianne; and his five grandchildren.

Phil was a devout member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church at 2925 N. Old Missouri Road in Fayetteville, Ark. Services will be held there on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 1 o’clock p.m. To place an online tribute, please visit www.bernafuneralhomes.com.
