FAYETTEVIL­LE — Borgny M. Hanley

died on March 4, 2024, at home in Fayettevil­le, Ark. Borgny was born April 9, 1930, in Colfax, Wis., to Selmer and Aida Fjelsted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Orlen and Lyle Fjelsted; sons, Kim and Thomas Haugle; and granddaugh­ters, Sarah Geist and Leah Hanley.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Hanley; children, Terry Haugle (Claudia), Kristi Olson (Keith), Kari Kelly, Jason Haugle (Kathleen), Cynthia Hanley Kloeppel (Steve), Cheryl Zimmerman (Bradlee), Terry Hanley (Dawn), Garry Hanley (Tammy), Gwen Grady (John), and Lisa Hanley; 24 grandchild­ren; and several great-grandchild­ren.

Borgny graduated from Colfax High School in Colfax, Wisc. She was employed in a variety of medical-related jobs, including Secretary at the Eau Claire University School of Nursing, Administra­tive Assistant/ Executive Secretary, helping Larry develop and establish the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Family Practice Residency Program in Eau Claire, Wis., Office Manager for Larry’s family practice in Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Administra­tive Assistant at the Montgomery County Medical Education Foundation Family Practice Residency Program in Conroe, Texas.

When she and Larry married, they blended two families of six children. Borgny was a truly remarkable woman as wife and Mother of this blended family, as a church and community volunteer and worker, as an active member of Alanon, and as a trusted friend in her many profession­al accomplish­ments.

A private Celebratio­n of Life is planned by the Family with burial at the Holden

Lutheran Church Cemetery in Colfax, Wis.
