PREP BASEBALL

BENTONVILL­E 12,

GRAVETTE 2

Bentonvill­e erupted for seven runs in the second inning and claimed a victory over Gravette during nonconfere­nce play at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

Eli McCall’s RBI single gave the Tigers (3-3) a run in the first before their big outburst. Boyce Read, J.J. Spafford and Brooks Hasencleve­r had consecutiv­e RBI hits, followed by McCall’s sacrifice fly and another RBI single by Daxton Horton.

Bentonvill­e then added four more runs in the third for a 12-1 cushion, while Gravette scored solo runs in the third and fifth innings.

Read and Arya Waikar each had two hits as the Tigers finished with 15 hits, while McCall and Horton had two RBI apiece. J.D. Beem had two of Gravette’s four hits and drove in both runs.

Carson Harrell threw four innings and allowed one run on two hits with seven strikeouts.

VAN BUREN 5,

FS SOUTHSIDE 3

Peyton Pschier, Clark Seeger and Owen Weeden each drove in runs to lead the Pointers to the nonconfere­nce win at Southside.

Jacob Price pitched in his fifth game this season all in relief and earned the save with three hitless innings, striking out three and walking one.

Tristan Ray earned the win for Van Buren (5-0).

Seeger also walked and scored twice for the Pointers.

Peyton Zimmerman singled, drove in two runs, walked once and stole two bases for Southside (2-6). Catcher Blake Forsgren also drove in a run with a single.

Norman North scored its goal with 53 seconds remaining and defeated Bentonvill­e during the opening day of the AR/OK Tournament at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

Bentonvill­e (2-2) returns to tournament action at 7 p.m. today against Tulsa Union.

Carter Ligi scored two goals and Richard Tinajero had a score in a win against Little Rock Central on Tuesday. Ligi also assisted on Tinajero’s goal. Usher Contreras also had an assist for the War Eagles.

Brandon Mendez scored two goals and Steven Valente had a goal as the Pointers tied Fort Smith Southside on Tuesday. Luis Herrera had two assists for the Pointers.

Bennett Crafton had a double and a triple and drove in three runs as Heritage shut out Springdale for the third time in as many days during Wednesday’s nonconfere­nce game at

The War Eagles (5-0) picked up RBI singles by Cooper Mann in the second inning and Luke Askew in the third for a 2-0 lead, then scored four times in each of the next two innings. Crafton tripled to drive in a run in the fourth, then his two-run double came in the fifth.

Parker Morris allowed one hit in four innings and struck out four to earn the win, while Cade Miller struck out the side in the fifth to finish the game.

PRAIRIE GROVE 8,

HARRISON 0

Conner Hubbs limited Harrison to two hits, while Maddox Ogle had three hits and drove in three runs to lead Prairie Grove to a victory.

Asher Linn added two hits and drove in two runs, including a first-inning RBI single to give Prairie Grove (4-2) its first run. Linn had an RBI single and Ogle a two-run single in a three-run fourth, while Ogle ended the game with an RBI single in the fifth.

Hubbs threw only 60 pitches for his five-inning shutout and struck out five.

HUNTSVILLE 8,

POTTSVILLE 6 (8)

Brady Bollinger’s eighth-inning RBI single broke a 5-5 tie, and Huntsville hung on to defeat Pottsville.

Bollinger’s hit drove in Kolby Phillips, who was the runner placed on second to start the inning. Bollinger went to second on a single by Sawyer Owens and later scored on Ben Bertrand’s groundout, then Owens scored on a wild pitch for an 8-5 Eagles lead.

Jaxon Ferguson had two hits and drove in two runs for Huntsville (5-0), which had eight hits and took advantage of 10 walks.

Talon Herring, the third Eagles pitcher, threw 1.2 innings and earned the win.

GENTRY 14,

LINCOLN 4

Gentry erased a 4-1 deficit with 13 unanswered runs and went on to defeat the Wolves in a nonconfere­nce game at Gentry.

The Pioneers scored four times in the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead, with Bryson Woodall’s two-run single tying the game and Riggs Harper’s groundout allowing the go-ahead run to score. Gentry then scored nine runs in the fifth inning, starting with a bunt single by Briar Mayberry to drive in a run and finishing with Benji Dugger scoring on a wild pitch.

Mayberry led the Pioneers with two hits while Harper and Woodall each had two RBI.

SILOAM SPRINGS 11,

PEA RIDGE 9

Siloam Springs built a seven-run lead, then held off Pea Ridge’s late charges to claim a nonconfere­nce victory over the Blackhawks at Pea Ridge.

The Panthers erased a 1-0 deficit with six runs in the third, highlighte­d by Braxton Majors’ two-run single that snapped a 1-1 tie. Siloam Springs added to its lead with Jacob Davis’ RBI single in the fourth and Blake Beckett’s scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth.

Pea Ridge, however, made things close with four runs in the sixth and made it a 8-5 game. Siloam Springs then added three more in the seventh before the Blackhawks added four more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Beckett, Jacob Davis and Nolan Wills each had two hits and Major drove in two runs to lead Siloam Springs. Jacob Ogburn had two hits and Waylon Fletcher drove in two runs for Pea Ridge.

VAN BUREN 14,

SYLVAN HILLS 4

Van Buren erased a 4-1 deficit with 10 unanswered runs and claimed a home nonconfere­nce victory over Sylvan Hills.

The Pointers scored five runs in the fourth inning and added five more in the fifth, then added three more runs in the sixth to enforce the 10-run rule.

Weston Wilcox threw 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win and helped his cause with four hits and a pair of RBI. Matthew Nichols had two hits and drove in two runs, while Clark Seeger drove in three runs.
