age 81 passed away Monday March 18, 2024, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab Center in Rogers, Ark. where he resided the past three years.

He was born in Breckenrid­ge, Texas on March 8, 1943, to LeeRoy and Christine Jones Alsup. After the family moved to the Texas panhandle, he graduated from Plainview High School in Plainview, Texas in 1961 where he was named Senior Favorite boy. He was always interested in agricultur­e and served as FFA president. He attended Texas Tech University and received a degree in Agricultur­e Education then went on to be an Ag teacher in Spade & Ira, Texas for eight years.

In 1972, he moved to Arkansas and began working for Rife Farms in Rogers, Ark. He later moved to Decatur, Ark. in 1979 where he worked for Peterson’s Industries for the next eleven years as Vice President of their cattle operation, including their registered Santa Gertrudis. He enjoyed the Santa Gertrudis breed and working with the youth which led to many National Breed Champions. He taught many showmanshi­p and grooming workshops at local colleges. He was a well-known cattle judge and judged shows from Houston, Texas to New York. In 2014, he was inducted into the Santa Gertrudis Hall of Fame. He also served as the President of the Northwest Arkansas Cattlemen’s Associatio­n and was active at the state level as well.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Camelia, and two sons, Tim (Eilenne) of Rogers and Kevin (Sandy) of Gravette; two granddaugh­ters Brittany (Matt) Alderson of Rogers and Callie (Kyle) Kennedy of Bentonvill­e; two great grandsons Beckett Alderson and Knox Kennedy; two sisters Lavon Stark of Gravette and Simona Simon of Lubbock, Texas and a brother Danny Alsup of Gravette.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 at 2 p.m. at NelsonBern­a Funeral Home of Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n or a charity of your choosing.
