The Dolphins tacked on another in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Clay Hodges to make it 9-1, but that’s when the Bears’ got their offense going.

AJ Mendolia drove in the first run of the fifth inning with a single to left field. After a Kade Seldomridge single, Drew Sturgeon hit a grand slam to right field to make it 9-7.

In the seventh inning, Seldomridge hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 9-8. Jagger Schattle then hit a two-run home run to right field to give the Bears a 10-9 lead.

Jacksonville tied the score with a Josh Steidl RBI single in the top of the eighth inning, but Casey Shipley’s sacrifice fly scored Preston Curtis in the bottom of the ninth inning to give UCA a walk-off win.

SUN BELT ARKANSAS STATE 6, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 3

After losing 11-0 on Friday night, Arkansas State rebounded with a 6-3 victory over Georgia Southern in the rubber match of the three-game series Saturday at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro.

Leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, Arkansas State shortstop Cason Campbell hit a three-RBI double to right center that scored Blake Burris, Austen Jaslove and Brayden Caskey. Campbell would come around to score later in the inning following a throwing error from Georgia Southern (14-13, 5-4 Sun Belt Conference) first baseman Kent Schmidt to extend the Red Wolves’ lead to 6-1.

Arkansas State (16-14, 3-6) starting pitcher Dylan Heine (2-0) earned the win after giving up 4 hits and no earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.

SWAC UAPB 16, ALCORN STATE 4

UAPB (11-17, 2-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference) scored six runs in the first inning and eight in the third to take control early and eventually pick up its second straight victory after dropping its previous nine.

Arkansas-Little Rock used a five-run second inning to jump out to a big lead on its way to a 7-3 victory over Lindenwood in the rubber match of the threegame series Saturday afternoon at the Lou Brock Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Lindenwood (7-19, 2-4 Ohio Valley Conference) chipped away at the lead in the bottom of the third inning following a two-RBI double from Mitch Cummins that scored Evan Funkhouser and Colin Shea to cut the Trojans’ lead to 5-3.

That would be as close as the Lions would get as UALR (15-13, 4-2) added a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Luke Pectol and another in the seventh when Nico Baumbach scored from third on a passed ball to extend the lead to 7-3.

Christian Bernabe and Luke Pectol each recorded two hits and two RBI apiece to lead the Trojans. Thomas Kuykendall picked up the win for UALR, while Josh Newell was charged with the loss for Lindenwood.
