BASEBALL

BENTONVILL­E 6, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 5 JJ Spafford’s fifth-inning sacrifice fly drove in Bodi Gist with the decisive run as Bentonvill­e rallied to defeat Northside and complete a series sweep at the Tiger Athletic Complex. Northside had scored four times in the top of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead, but the Tigers (11-12, 6-8) cut into the lead when Connor Davis stole home. A Northside error allowed Connor Adair to score the tying run and move Gist to third before Spafford drove in the go-ahead run.

BOONEVILLE 17, SUBIACO ACADEMY 2 (5) Jace Washburn drove in four runs in a five-inning rout for Booneville (11-5, 8-0 3A-4). Parker Smith was 2 for 3 with 2 runs batted in, and Rylen Ray had three RBI for the Bearcats. Matt O’Bar and Dylan Todd also had two RBI apiece for Booneville.

COTTER 6, IZARD COUNTY 4 Will Morris and Cole Tilton both had two hits and drove in one run apiece as Cotter (15-4) outlasted the Cougars. Kolby Vinson worked 7 innings and struck out 7 and walked 2 for the Warriors.

GENTRY 8, PEA RIDGE 4 Houston Nance had three hits and drove in two runs to help Gentry earn a 4A-1 Conference victory at home over Pea Ridge. Riggs Harper broke a 4-4 tie when his fourth-inning triple scored Jared James and gave the Pioneers the lead for good, then Gentry added RBI singles by Bryson Woodall and Drew Nash. Nash had two hits and drove in a run while Briar Mayberry drove in a pair of runs.

MOUNTAIN HOME 7-5, GREENWOOD 3-5 Ian Ellison was effective on the mound, giving up 4 hits and striking out 3 in 6 innings for Mountain Home (12-9, 6-4 5A-West) in Game 1. Ryder McClain went 2 for 2 and scored 2 times in Game 2 for the Bombers.

PRAIRIE GROVE 11, HUNTSVILLE 9 (8) Connor Hubbs’ second home run of the game broke a 9-9 tie and lifted Prairie Grove to a 4A-1 Conference victory at Huntsville. Asher Lunn added the insurance run when he was hit by a pitch, went to third on Bryce Ledgerwood’s double and scored on an error. Ledgerwood had a three-run home run in the first for the Tigers, while Hubbs’ first home run was a two-run shot in the fourth and forced a 5-5 tie. Sawyer Owens and Jaxon Ferguson each had three hits and drove in two runs for Huntsville.

ROGERS 17, SPRINGDALE 3 Rogers scored at least four runs in the second through fifth innings and rolled to a 6A-West Conference victory at Springdale. The Mounties (202, 11-1) compiled 15 hits and had 10 different players drive in a run, with Zach Lawing leading the way with 3 RBI while Caleb Champion and Cole Berry adding 2 each. Ty Anderson picked up the victory as he allowed just one earned run on four hits over four innings and struck out six.

SHILOH CHRISTIAN 7, GRAVETTE

1 AJ Ylanan and Blake Ward each drove in a pair of runs and helped Shiloh Christian defeat Gravette in a 4A-1 Conference game at Springdale. Ylanan’s first-inning single drove in Chandler Kemp and gave the Saints a lead they never relinquish­ed as they had solo tallies in the first three innings before scoring four runs in the fifth. Brock Billingsle­y had three hits and was a home run short of the cycle, while Connor Shockley added two hits and drove in a run.

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 11, FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 0 Luke Cornelison threw a one-hitter over 6 1/3 innings and struck out 14 batters as Har-Ber completed the series sweep of Southside with a win at Fort Smith. Brady Smith snapped a scoreless tie when he scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning as the Wildcats scored two runs in the fourth through sixth innings before they added five in the seventh. Evan Curry and Dylan Gibson each drove in two runs for Har-Ber.

VAN BUREN 7-3, HARRISON 1-0 Owen Weeden went 2 for 2 and scored 3 times to push Van Buren (15-8, 6-4 5A-West) past the Goblins in the first game of a doublehead­er. Weston Wilcox struck out 6 and allowed 4 hits in 6 innings for the Pointers. Clark Seeger also drove in a pair for Van Buren. The second game saw Hudson Stewart toss a one-hitter in the win.

SOFTBALL

FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 6, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 3 Eden Davis had three hits and drove in a run to lead Northside to a 6A-West Conference upset over Har-Ber at Fort Smith. The Lady Bears (7-11, 3-9) escaped from an early 2-0 hole with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added three more in the fourth to secure the win. Jailah Vickers added two hits and an RBI for Northside, while Anniston Reith had three hits and drove in a run for Har-Ber (17-6, 9-2).

GRAVETTE 7, LINCOLN 0 Brooke Handle struck out 14 batters and gave up 3 hits in 7 strong innings for Gravette (12-7, 3-3 4A-1), winners of three straight games. Laney Chilton was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, and Keeley Elsea went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored for the Lady Lions.

GREENWOOD 3, MOUNTAIN HOME 0 Tori Howard and Daisy Parker each clubbed home runs as Greenwood (16-3, 9-0 5A-West) shut out the Lady Bombers. Howard also gave up 3 hits and struck out 8 in 7 innings for the Lady Bulldogs.

PEA RIDGE 7, GENTRY 6 (9) Emory Bowlin had 12 strikeouts to support Pea Ridge (19-4, 6-0 4A1) in a tight one against the Lady Pioneers. Bowlin, along with Zaylee Warden, hit home runs while Makenzie Whalen was 3 for 4 for the Lady Blackhawks. Olivia Nations hit a home run and drove in two for Gentry (15-4, 5-1). Evey Tomlinson and Cindy Barger both had two hits as well.

RIVERSIDE 8, CARLISLE 1 (4) Klaire Womack put up a no-hitter for Riverside (19-0) in a game shortened because of weather. Womack struck out 11 for the Lady Rebels. Kaylee Cox was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored, Kathryn Ridge was 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBI, and Brooklyn Berry collected 3 RBI for Riverside.

VAN BUREN 13-12, HARRISON 6-7 Anna Stanier blasted a grand slam as Van Buren (10-11, 5-5 5A-West) smacked the Lady Goblins in the opener before racking up 12 runs in the nightcap. India Norwood was 2 for 2 with 3 runs batted in, and Kyleigh Kuykendall finished with two RBI for the Lady Pointers in the first matchup. In the finale, Ashlyn Michael was 4 for 4 with a home run and 4 runs batted in for Van Buren. MaKayla Coombes went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, and Kuykendall and Jocelyn Parga added a pair of hits each.

BOYS SOCCER

VAN BUREN 1, GREENWOOD 0 Brandon Mendez scored late in the match to lead Van Buren (9-3-1, 7-2 5A-West) to its fourth victory in a row.

GIRLS SOCCER

SILOAM SPRINGS 10, ALMA 0 Jetta Broquard and Mesa Broquard both scored three goals in the first half as Siloam Springs (10-3-1, 9-0 5A-West) made quick work of the Lady Airedales to win its seventh consecutiv­e match.

BASEBALL

CROSS COUNTY 10, MARMADUKE 0 (5) Knoa Roberts’ no-hitter enabled

Cross County (7-7, 5-5 2A-3) to even its record on the season. Roberts struck out 14 batters and walked 2 in 5 innings for the Thunderbir­ds.

EAST POINSETT COUNTY 7, BAY 4 Eli Blagg ripped a home run to lead East Poinsett County (8-9, 4-7 2A3) to its second win in its last three games. Blagg also had a double and drove in three runs for the Warriors.

GOSNELL 6, HARRISBURG 0 Trent Middleton went 6 2/3 innings and gave up 1 hit while striking out 14 in a shutout for Gosnell (16-5, 9-1 3A-3). He also went 4 for 4 with 4 runs batted in as the Pirates avenged a 2-1 loss they suffered to the Hornets earlier this month.

SOFTBALL

DES ARC 11, ENGLAND 1 Kaylee McDonald belted two home runs in a 10-run win for Des Arc (12-4, 8-1 2A-6). The sophomore also recorded 12 strikeouts in five innings for the Lady Eagles, who’ve won four straight games and five of their past six overall.

GENOA CENTRAL 9, PRESCOTT 2 Kelsey Fowler and Brailey Tefteller drilled back-to-back home runs to aid in a pivotal win for Genoa Central (9-6, 5-1 3A-7). The victory kept the Lady Dragons a game back in second place behind Fouke in the conference standings.

GURDON 5, JUNCTION CITY 4 Mikaela Bradshaw clocked a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send Gurdon (6-7, 3-2 2A-8) soaring past its league foes. Mollie Cox also had a home run in the first inning for the Lady Go-Devils. Emilee Brovee hit a home run for Junction City (9-9, 2-3).

MALVERN 13, CAMDEN FAIRVIEW 0 Kendall Watson boomed her ninth home run of the season as Malvern (11-4, 9-1 4A-7) dominated the Lady Cardinals. The sophomore went 2 for 4 with 4 runs batted in for the Lady Leopards, who’ve won three of their last four games. Watson also struck out 3 and gave up 2 hits in 4 innings.

MAYFLOWER 10, ATKINS 4 Bella Immel’s home run helped catapult Mayflower (16-4, 6-0 3A-5) to the conference championsh­ip. The victory was also the 14th in a row for the Lady Eagles. Alyssa Lemley had a two-run home run for Atkins (154, 5-1), which had its four-game winning streak snapped.

POYEN 2, WHITE HALL 1 Jadyn Warrick gave up 1 run and struck out 4 in 7 innings as Poyen (114)) knocked off the Lady Bulldogs. Avery Oden hit a home run as well for the Lady Indians.
