Mint Gets Festive with Holiday Ornaments

-

While autumn and its accompanying festivities are likely on the minds of many collectors, the Mint is ringing in the December holiday season with the release of its two annual ornament types. The United States Mint ornament and the youth-focused Mighty Minters ornament will be available to add to collectors’ holiday trees or displays beginning on Oct. 21.

The Mint ornament is shaped like a large snowflake. The intricate design includes flakes of white, blue and purple, resembling the colors reflecting off icy crystals caught by sunlight. A light blue ring of smaller flakes encircles the coin, with “UNITED STATES MINT” and “2022” along the border. Hand-crafted and produced in solid brass, this decoration has an imitation rhodium finish, giving some of its elements a silver sheen. A ribbon is attached to the top for display.

The reverse of the uncirculated American Innovation dollar coin representing Vermont appears on the front, with an engraved version of the Mint Seal on the back. The design recognizes American innovation in snowboarding, with a young snowboarder in the air, set against a mountainous winter skyline.

The item is priced at $29.95 with a product limit of 8,000. There is no household order limit.

The Mighty Minters ornament features three Mighty Minters – Layla, a peahen from West Point, N.Y.; Lina from Philadelphia, Pa.; and Kendra from Washington, D.C. – singing songs of joy and are out spreading the holiday spirit.

As is the case with the United States Mint ornament, the reverse of the uncirculated American Innovation dollar representing Vermont appears on the front, with an engraved version of the United States Mint Seal on the back. It was constructed in solid brass and finished with the silvery sheen of imitation rhodium.

This ornament is priced at $27.95 with a product limit of 6,250. It too has no household order limit.
