Darlene Dagenhart King,

79, of Charlotte passed away

Monday April 11, 2022 at

Summit Place of Mooresville.

She was born July 31, 1942 in Catawba County to the late Frank and Maggie Moss

Dagenhart. Darlene was a member of Hopewell United

Methodist Church. She had a full career as an executive secretary in several businesses in Charlotte ending with Miller Orthopedic Clinic from which she retired. In her younger days, she enjoyed beach music and Shagging. She and her husband Doug cultivated a vast vinyl album collection. Although she had no children, Darlene had a special fondness for dogs, especially three-legged dogs. She was a great supporter of dog rescue programs including the Humane Society. Darlene had a great sense of style and enjoyed shopping. She loved butterflies, coconut, and chocolate. She will be most remembered for her quick-wit and sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug King, brother, George Dagenhart, and sisters Elizabeth Travis and Nadine Holbrook.

Those left to cherish her memory are sisters: Avis Sessoms of York, S.C. and Carolyn Deal of Conover, NC. Niece and Caregiver Jamie Brumley and husband Anthony of Catawba, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

A service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held Monday, April 18, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford. Dr. Ed Yount will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church.
