JOYCE GUIN SIGMON

-

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 1:48 p.m. Joyce Guin Sigmon, 88, of Catawba came face to face with her Lord and Savior, the one she served with her every breath.

She was our prayer warrior and she loved to crochet, make quilts and any other craft projects she could get her hands on. She especially loved teaching her family the art of canning, making jams and jellies, baking cakes, and so much more. Most importantly, she loved telling people about her Jesus.

She was born August 4, 1933 in Cleveland County to the late William Henry Guin and Annie Mae Dagenhart Guin. Joyce and her husband Kenneth were founding members of Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba, where she served many positions within her church, including church clerk, treasurer, VBS director, teacher, youth group leader and various other positions. She was also a member of The Gideons International Ladies Auxiliary, and served on many local and jurisdictional offices with WoodmenLife, Bandys VFD Ladies Auxiliary, and Farm Bureau board of directors.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Kenneth “Ken” Burton Sigmon; son, Darris Dean Sigmon; daughter, Kathy Schronce; sonin-law, Bryan Schronce; brother, Harry Lee Guin, Sr,; and sister, Edna G. Warren.
