FOUNDED BY COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY BUSINESS SCHOOL GRADS, MIAMI-BASED STARTUP SAILO BRINGS BOATS TO YOUR BACKYARD ON A MOMENT’S NOTICE.
There are times in life when it seems like having a boat would make everything better. Thankfully, the team at Sailo is here to help. Headquartered in New York and Miami, the company allows you to book crafts from 25-foot speedboats to 150-foot megayachts at the touch of a button, at a cost of anywhere from $300 to $12,000 a day. There are more than 4,000 boats around the world available for rent online, with or without a captain, and a customer service team will help plan everything from fishing trips to Champagne sunset sails. “It’s fast, transparent, and easy,” says founder and CEO Adrian Gradinaru. “You have access to thousands of boats that can be booked in minutes.”
The concept began after Gradinaru had a bad rental experience in Greece and enlisted the help of other business-savvy, techfocused partners to bridge the gap between Uber and paradise. The site additionally provides an event planner to keep track of trip details and a mobile app for on the go. Sailo will also let you book private chefs and watersports— perfect for Miami boaters. “Miami is one of the core pillars of Sailo’s business,” says Delphine Braas, cofounder and head of marketing and business development. “The warm and sunny weather allows people to enjoy the boating lifestyle year-round.” sailo.com
