If there’s a month that I look forward to every year, it’s March. Short but sweet February might have brought the world’s most stunning yachts to our waters for the Miami International Boat Show and the city’s and nation’s best (James Beard Awardwinning) chefs together for almost a hundred events at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, but March brings an international tennis tournament and a global music phenomenon (which started right on the sands of Sobe) to our Magic City. It’s no wonder international visitors flock to the 305 to spend their spring break here.
If you’re a tennis fanatic, snagging a seat at the 2017 Miami Open is an absolute must. From March 20 to April 2, the world’s leading tennis players will hit the Tennis Center at Crandon Park and face off for the coveted title and trophy. You can find me courtside.
If it’s partying you had in mind, you’ve come to the right city. While Miami plays host to the hottest names in electronic dance music all throughout the year, this month brings industry legends to our city for the 2017 Winter Music Conference (March 21–24) and Miami Music Week (March 21–26). For an entire week, DJS will turn the volume up louder than usual with high-octane beach bashes, poolside blowouts, and club sets guaranteed to have you dancing all day, all night, and quite likely the following morning.
Of course, with WMC and MMW comes the 19th annual Ultra Music Festival. From March 24 to 26, Bayfront Park will be transformed into an EDM wonderland where global names like Carl Cox (featured on page 124), Armin van Buuren, and Martin Garrix will man the turntables for sure-to-be-epic sets we’ll be talking about until next year.
For such a special time and issue, we’re elated to feature the gorgeous supermodel Adriana Lima on our cover. When she isn’t spending the day on some far-off exotic beach on location for a shoot or strutting the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway, the brunette calls this beach her home, and we’re honored to share her latest endeavors with you.
So whether you’re a sports enthusiast or EDM addict, or a bit of both, I encourage you to really revel in everything our city has to offer this month. After all, we get to enjoy it in Miami’s perfect, permanent summertime weather. The Magic City truly is magical, isn’t it?
