82 // LETTER FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Living in South Florida, I play a lot of tennis. I also play my music really loud with the windows open every time I drive over the 395 Causeway, passing under exit signs that read MIAMI BEACH, as I head to work.
So it’s no wonder that March is one of my favorite months of the year down here, with the Miami Open featuring the world’s greatest tennis players (myself not included) and the Ultra Music Festival starring the world’s greatest DJS. In fact, for three days, those two events will actually collide, drawing hundreds of thousands of revelers between them— some loyal tennis fanatics, some EDM diehards, and others like me who like to dabble in both.
I’m all prepared: I’ve got my new Roger Federer tennis hat (from Tennis Plaza on Biscayne Boulevard) for sunny days watching the action at Crandon Park, and I’ve got my #Teamnosleep hat from E11EVEN ready for wild nights at Ultra (and after). My sunscreen and S’well water bottle are packed, and I’ll probably head to Anatomy at 1220 for a quick IV drip (water plus nutrients plus B12) from Vitasquad to make sure I’m properly hydrated and juiced up.
And if tennis or raving isn’t your thing, NASA just reported that 2016 was the hottest year on record, so I expect March to be extra special on the beach this year—which, by the way, is the perfect place to read our cover story on supermodel Adriana Lima. She not only dazzles on magazines, runways, and TVS across the globe, but she also happens to call Miami home. So while the temperatures rise as we leave winter behind and head into spring on March 20, is there anything better—or hotter—than Adriana Lima, Miami, and this issue of Ocean Drive?
