It’s duringa Tuesday football afternoon off-season in the 305 when Carlos Hyde (running back for the San Francisco 49ers) is about to turn up—not at LIV, but for a workout led by Andy Luaces, followed by recovery. The driving force behind Core Fitness, Luaces is in charge of the physiques of some of the top names in sports: Devonta Freeman, Travis Benjamin, and college phenomenon David Njoku (a top NFL draft pick). Njoku is one of a handful of University of Miami players who will be NFL newbies this year, and who rely on Core Fitness for their combine and game training. But personal training for NFL players, NBA guys including Jeff Green, and even local fixtures like Ariete’s Michael Beltran and Jason Odio, and Jon Paul Pérez (son of condo developer and Related Group head Jorge Pérez) is just half of the equation at Core Fitness, and one of the components of MSPI (Miami Sports Performance Institute). The integrated full-body fitness and medical facility also includes on-site Fox Physical Therapy, Chiropractic Health (massageFit therapy and cupping), and Miami Flexibility, led by Miami Dolphins flexologist and Luaces’s business partner Alex Da Silva, along with cryotherapy. will In celebrateJune, Core its Fitness 10-year anniversary. We know what you’re thinking: If they’ve been around for 10 years, why am I only finding out about Core now? “We’re kind of secretive,” says Luaces by way of explanation. “We’re not big on Instagram, we don’t flaunt our players, and have nothing to prove. Our motto is quality over quantity. A lot of people hashtag that, but they don’t really mean it.” Talk about #results. 162 NE 25th St., . Miami, 305-428-2642; corefitnessmiami.com
