“People don’t think of us as a bar,” says chef-partner of Ariete Michael Beltran. Of course that’ll change as soon as you try the cocktail float: two scoops of house-made vanilla ice cream spiked with Fernet, luxardo, and (alcoholic) root beer, dubbed Not Your Father’s Root Beer. It’s one of several happy hour and new cocktail offerings that also include mezcal negronis, tobacco-steeped old-fashioneds, and cachaça mules. Plus, oysters, fritas, chug burgers, and wood-grilled fish-sauce caramel wings with furikake ranch.
