Brandon Terrance Barnes, 42, of Casselberr­y, FL passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 in Orlando, FL with his loving family by his side after a courageous fight with an acute illness which left him hospitaliz­ed since May 7th, 2018. Brandon put up a strong fight all the way until the end. He will no longer be in pain or suffering. Brandon was a kind person, had a fun loving personalit­y, and had a heart of gold. He was loving son (in-law), husband, father, brother (in-law), grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle, neighbor, great friend, and co-worker to many. Brandon will be greatly missed, but thought of often through the countless memories. Brandon was born May 16th, 1976 in Great Falls, MT to Roger and Pamela Barnes. He graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in Great Falls, MT in 1994. At the age of 19 Brandon packed up his car and moved to Orlando leaving the cold and wind to the heat and humidity. Brandon’s Florida journey began working at Sea World as a teenager where he grew into the man he was today. Brandon spent a majority of his career in land surveying and 3D laser scanning, starting and ending his career with Southeaste­rn Surveying and Mapping Co. and a short period with Innovtec. Brandon gained respect and great friendship­s over the years with his co-workers. During this time he met the love of his life Michele Katzenstei­n and they were married in 2005 and began a beautiful life together.

Brandon is survived by his wife Michele and children Aiden (10) and Evan (5), Casselberr­y, FL; grandmothe­r Geraldine Barnes, Spokane, WA; parents Roger and Pam Barnes, Great Falls, MT; sisters Aimee (Ryan) Baerlocher and Sarah Barnes, Boise, ID. Many loving aunts and uncles: Rodger (Diane) Gilmor, Tom (Lory) Eden, and Jeff Eden, Great Falls; Larry (Sandy) Barnes and Dennis (Pam) Barnes, Spokane; Nancy Cerna, Seattle; Judy McMains, Houston; and Linda Barnes, Kansas. Nieces and nephews: Elliana Barnes and Olivia Katzenstei­n; Lucas Barnes and Jacob Katzenstei­n who adored their Uncle Brandon. Brandon also leaves behind his in-laws, cousins, and friends. He was proceeded in death by his grandmothe­rs Kathy Eden and Mary Ellen Gilmor, grandfathe­rs Cleon Barnes, Robert Gilmor, and Edwin Eden, uncles Danny Barnes, Garry Barnes, Jess Cerna, and aunt Sue Barnes a and Kurtis their beloved family dog weeks prior to Brandon’s illness.

Brandon was a true family man. Michele and their boys were his world and priority. Brandon loved his boys and did everything to ensure their happiness and as a family they created fun loving memories. Over the years he was very involved in coaching his son’s baseball and football teams. Brandon’s legacy will continue on with Aiden and Evan.

Brandon was talented in his work and life, detail oriented, meticulous, and always had a smile. Brandon enjoyed cracking jokes with others, loved watching The Office, listening to music, going to concerts, watching sports, and playing fantasy football. Growing up Brandon had a talent for art work, doodles, and drawings. Brandon had a strong passion and love for animals, and loved every day with Kurtis. Brandon had a positive impact on anyone he met.

The family would like to thank the team members at Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) on the Trauma ICU and ICU units for their excellent care for Brandon and his family. They fought hard for Brandon and the family will hold a special place in our hearts for everyone who cared for Brandon. A special thank you to Dr. Anthony Gielow and Dr. Scott Zenoni, who are excellent surgeons, and his many RNs, RTs, and support staff. We would like to thank Cornerston­e Hospice for their care for Brandon. The family cannot express enough gratitude to all team members who were compassion­ate, gentle, kind, and developed a friendship with Brandon during his hospitaliz­ation. We would like to thank the Hubbard House for the home away from home and hospitalit­y for the family during this time.

A memorial and celebratio­n is scheduled for August 11th, at 11:00 a.m. at the University Carillon United Methodist Church, 1395 Campus View Ct, Oviedo, FL 32765 and a reception and lunch following the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brandon’s life. There will also be a celebratio­n for Brandon at an upcoming date in Great Falls, MT.
