-

Robert Malone (Crusty) Rosemond, 93, passed away peacefully July 21, 2018. He was born in Charleston, SC on Nov 3, 1924 to Dovie Malone and James A. Rosemond. Before entering Duke University, he served his country in the Pacific theater with the Navy in WWII. While at Duke, he formed lifelong friendships as a brother in the Kappa Alpha fraternity on his way to earning a medical degree. It was there that he met his wife Sally and together they began their memorable journey of 64 years. After residencies at Emory, and the VA in Atlanta, he completed his cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of SC.

Dr. Rosemond’s private practice of cardiology began in Sanford, FL in 1958 and continued until 2018 when he retired at age 93. His sense of humor, listening ear and comfortable style, endeared him to the thousands of patients he cared for during his 59 years of practice. He made medicine fun. To be loved, respected, and compassionate were his goals to live by.

Each year as the fall season approached, his thoughts centered on an annual trip to the Colorado mountains and his beloved hunting camp where he enjoyed countless memorable experiences of fun, friendship, and camaraderie.

He loved being home with his family and the many friends who came to visit. Daughter Cherie (David), sons Jim (Geraldine), Rick (Amy), and five grandchildren all share a passion for nature and the outdoors. A life full of living, laughing, helping, and working, he met life challenges with a positive determination to make difference in the lives of those he touched. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00am at Markham Woods Presbyterian Church 5210 Markham Woods Road, Lake Mary, FL 32776.
