■ Yankees, Royals: Greg Bird homered to begin a two-run rally in the eighth inning as the Yankees beat the Royals 5-4 for a split of their day-night doublehead­er in New York. The Royals won the opener 10-5, tagging All-Star ace Luis Severino for six runs in 41⁄3 innings.

■ White Sox: Pinch-hitter Daniel Palka gave the White Sox the lead with a two-run single and Leury Garcia added a three-run triple in a six-run eighth in a 9-5 comeback victory over the visiting Blue Jays. Garcia finished 2-for-4 with a career-high four RBIs. Yolmer Sanchez and Nicky Delmonico each homered for the White Sox, who snapped a threegame losing streak.

■ Pirates: Trevor Williams outdueled Jacob deGrom in a 5-0 win over the Mets in Pittsburgh. Williams (9-7) allowed five hits in six innings with five strikeouts and three walks. He hasn’t allowed a run in 17 straight innings. The Pirates have won 13 of 15. DeGrom (5-6) lost for the fourth time since June 28. He allowed three runs on eight hits, his most surrendere­d this season, with five strikeouts in seven innings.

■ Cardinals: Marcell Ozuna hit a grand slam off Jose Quintana during a six-run first inning, Miles Mikolas pitched six strong innings and the Cardinals beat the Cubs 6-2 in front of a season-high crowd of 47,514 at Busch Stadium.

■ Astros: Jose Altuve was put on the 10-day DL with a sore right knee. Manager A.J. Hinch made the announceme­nt after a 7-3 loss to the Rangers in Houston.

■ Rangers: Rougned Odor hit an inside-the-park homer and a regular over-the-fence shot, going 5-for-5 to help the Rangers beat Justin Verlander and the Astros 7-3 in Houston.

■ Brewers: Christian Yelich homered and had three RBIs to lead the Brewers to a 7-1 victory over the Giants in San Francisco. The win pulled the Brewers to within a half-game of the Cubs in the NL Central. Mike Moustakas, acquired from the Royals late Friday night, went 1-for-5 in his Brewers debut.
