Trump’s a friend to Jews
I want to assure the Orlando Sentinel and its readers that the sentiments expressed by Marilyn and Larry Shapiro in their letter to the editor Thursday are not representative of the views of all Jewish people. In fact, they are painfully distorted and misdirected. President Trump is a great friend to the state of Israel and to the Jewish people, and his support is greatly appreciated by many Jewish Americans as well as the state of Israel.
The tragedy in Pittsburgh had nothing to do with Trump. Anti-Semitism has existed since time immemorial. Who do theliberals blame for the pre-Trump atrocities? It’s simply ridiculous to politicize something like this and to scapegoat our president for it. A bigger danger to American Jews is the hatred coming from the left, from the likes of Linda Sarsour and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. From the Students for Justice in Palestine radicals on campuses throughout our country. From the likes of Barack Obama, who snubbed Israel’s prime minister, cozied up to the Muslim Brotherhood, apologized to the Muslim world for America (Cairo speech), and shockingly had the United States abstain from an anti-Israel resolution at the United Nations during his presidency.
It is important for Americans to know that there are many politically conservative Jewish Americans out there. You wouldn’t know it from the press coverage of the Pittsburgh tragedy, as much of it is biased against President Trump and thus emphasizes only the reactions of the already-Trump-hating portion of the Jewish population.
