Dr. Don Rawlis Cox died on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the age of 88. He was surrounded by family when he passed from this world. Don was born in Dade City, Florida on July 30, 1930 and grew up in Miami, FL. He graduated from Miami Jackson High School and later attended the University of Miami where he was part of the second graduating class of the University of Miami School of Medicine. Don, as he was known by his colleagues, was a physician in Winter Park, Florida. He faithfully served his patients for 40 years in both his private practice and through privileges at Winter Park Memorial Hospital where he served as Chief of Internal Medicine. He was a parishione­r at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church for a half century.

Rawlis, as he was known by his family, was a cherished son, husband, father and grandfathe­r. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Arthur Cox and Clyde Belle Wilkerson, his sisters, Gloria Jean DuBose and Frances Ann Hodges and his granddaugh­ter, Sarah Elisabeth Lamlein.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Agatha (née) Trautman, as well as his 5 children, Dale R. Cox and wife Regina of New Smyrna, Brenda S. Lamlein and husband Mark of Tampa, C. Blair Cox and wife Yvonne of Winter Park, Leslie J. Cox of Winter Park and Melissa L. Perez and husband Mark of Tallahasse­e. At his passing, Don had 9 grandchild­ren, Benton Lamlein, Joshua Cox, Anna Lamlein, Katherine Cox, Clara Perez, Rawlis Cox, Landon Cox, Mayer Perez and Nicholas Cox. In honor of Dr. Cox, a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Stephens Catholic Church on November 19, 2018 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Adoption Services.
