Vincent Gerard Williams born July 19, 1922 in Hartford Connecticut to Dr. Robert and Augusta Vincent Williams, passed away in his home on November 15, 2018, surrounded by his family. Vincent was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Eileen Fuery Williams, and is survived by his children Maureen Williams (Tim Bates), Vincent Gerard Williams Jr, Patricia Williams-den Hollander (Laurens), Dr. Kathleen Williams (Paula Crowley), Mary Elizabeth Williams, his grandchildren John Bates (Courtney), Paul Bates (Lindy), Maggie Bailey-Bates (Andy) and his greatgrandchildren Claire Bailey, William Vincent Bates Mason and Madeline Bates.

In 1944, while in attendance at the Citadel Military College in Charleston SC, Vincent entered World War II. As a lieutenant in the 100s infantry division, he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his efforts in the Battle of the Bulge near Bitche, France, whereby his division would become known as the “sons of Bitche”. After the war, Vincent and Eileen started a family in Greenville, SC and while there, Vincent began a career as a school principal. In 1962, Vincent moved he and his family to Orlando, FL after which he would transition into what would become a distinguished career in sales that lasted for 60-plus years. Vincent and Eileen had peacefully and lovingly spent their final years at the Mayflower retirement community in Winter Park, FL, and both were members of St. Andrews Catholic Church and later St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Vincent will be eternally missed by all of us and we have sadly lost another from that greatest of generations.
